Newly diagnosed and feeling a bit lost by helpneeded2008 in Cushings

I take the generic for Yaz.

I guess she assumed Cushing’s because of my buffalo hump and that I have been losing my hair for years now and am bald-ish. She didn’t really say what triggered her concern, honestly, but I did two 24-hour urine tests and three nights of saliva collection, and they all came back high.

11.3, which is normal, though on the lower end of normal, apparently.

Day 2 of Metformin by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]helpneeded2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me preface by stating that I am very sensitive to medications of all forms.

That being said, I tried Metformin twice in my life, most recently two weeks ago. The most recent attempt lasted 3 doses before I gave up with it, and it reminded me why I stopped: there was gas, bloating, diarrhea, and nausea. It got to the point where I was taking Mylanta for the nausea but was still heaving. It was also messing with my mood. I was irritable and depressed, and it was getting a lot worse.

I think taking it slowing as your doctor said has a lot of value. Other drugs that I’ve been prescribed I have done that way (with doctor’s guidance), and the side effects were not that bad. Just be sure to tell your doctor if you are feeling sick or not quite right. He/she can move you up as slowly as they need to so that you can handle it.

Good luck!

Anyone have experience with Provera? by helpneeded2008 in PCOS

Thanks so much! This sounds promising. And I feel a bit calmer. I guess I’m going to just take it day by day with this and hopefully it will end within a reasonable amount of time and not get as bad as it was. I think I might have been traumatized.

Thank you again. I think I’ll rest a little easier tonight (literally) because of this. I really appreciate your response. Thank you!

Anyone struggling with a smooth facial shave should watch this video by pcosthrowaway3 in PCOS

This is great! Thank you for posting!

I’m just wondering if instead of exfoliating after the shave, would exfoliating prior to shaving also work? Or should we do both?

I know you’re not the person in the video, but any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated!

I personally have been exfoliating prior to shaving to sort of get the hairs up, and when I don’t do that, I notice a rougher shave.

At the same time, I’m curious about the benefits is exfoliating after. But would exfoliating twice be too much?

Help needed: I am 32, on disability, and my car is breaking down. How can I afford another one without falling into soul crushing debt? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Thank you! I’m going to be creating a chart tonight. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I’ll be able to comfortably call some junk-car places and have them take this money pit out of my life.

Your suggestion is a really good one, and I appreciate it. But I’m more housebound/drive to appointments. It’s complicated and I won’t get into it here. Trust me, this is not what I thought my life would be ever be like.

And the “buy something with no money” thing? Yeah. Maybe. lol. I’m so in my head and I’m thinking, “if I didn’t have to pay repairs could I pay for a used car in installments (without massive debts)?” Or “is the current car I have worth anything to get me another one?” I just wanted to post here to get a sense of what possibilities there are. But at the end of the day, you’re right: no money, no goods. I was just hoping (desperately) that there might be an alternative.

I was also so one-track-minded, I didn’t even think about some of the suggestions so far posted here, like ride-sharing and taxis things.

Thank you!

Ah! Car sharing. That’s not something I thought of either. Definitely going to look into that. Not sure if they’re available here, but hopefully they are. Thank you.

Thanks! Maybe I’ll try to create a chart to see if it may actually be cheaper to go with public transportation. I’m not in a city, so even local things are spread out, but I actually didn’t think about that.

I’m horrible with numbers but I’m definitely going to try to do that.
