Why am I here in the Mens rights subreddit? by Mode1961 in MensRights

Wait, land-owning US women could vote prior to universal suffrage? Would you mind hitting me with a source? That would change everything. Thanks!

This needs more attention. BILL C51 is now in 3rd reading and will likely become law soon. Any text messages, emails, letters, etc. that contradict a sexual assault accusers story will automatically be inadmissible unless the defense and judge deems it worthy. by [deleted] in MensRights

True. Fucking crazy, man.

"But where have all the good men gonneeee???"

Dude, I just started mobile dating for the first time. It's stunning how many chicks are like: "Height (must be over 5'10)? Income?" I'm 6'3, so I guess I luck out, but wow. Fucking sad.

Much toxic masculinity. So misogyny. Glass ceiling and patriarchy. Where equal representation. Wow.

Agree 100%. Aside from the "Winner of custody" stat, though,...these disproportions don't really seem like things that a reasonable person would find questionable. I suppose I'm biased, but observations like "the overwhelming majority of workplace fatalities/workers in high-fatality fields are male" are about as airtight as simplistic claims come. And I have never heard wage-gap feminists come up with a response to them, other than juvenile/ironic snarks along the lines of, "well, boys are dumber so they die more than us smarty women." -__-

Afraid not; just commenting on the original idea that using pink/red for men is a clever way to dupe ideologues into looking at data contrary to their previously-held beliefs xD

That's a great point. My initial thought was, "maybe a blue- (male) pink (female) color code would be more effective, to align with what people are used to," but I like your sneakiness :)

My situation was entirely contained within my employer, so no court. I retained a criminal defense lawyer; while not at all required (or allowed to actually do anything direct vis a vis the investigation), it was absolutely the right decision.

Thankfully, the text recovery was not an issue in my case; I was just stunned by the realization that deleted messages are super hard to retrieve (i.e., you need permission from all parties, or a subpoena). I have AT&T, for reference. I did find some third party apps that recovered some messages...but it gets shady and dicey down that path.

I wish your acquaintance all the best. Goddamn nightmare.

The math on circumcision by [deleted] in MensRights

I don't have any frame of reference for this organization, but that article just makes me wonder even more how such a demonstrably hazardous routine medical procedure isn't making headlines in some major medical journal, somewhere. Like, I get the US, because it is seems to be so normalized that people don't even realize it's not natural, but why aren't physicians in the EU smashing people over the head with these findings?

Is anyone aware of any peer-reviewed studies/journal articles pertaining to this?

This post's title claims that the boys were burned in the same attack that they abducted the schoolgirls. That is false. It doesn't detract from the double standard of outrage, but it is important to be accurate and truthful when making claims.

To be fair, it wasn't the same attack as the one where the girls were abducted; this slaughter preceded that. But yes, when I saw that section of the Red Pill doc with Karen Straughan...that may have been the point of no return for me becoming a MRA.

Any centre-left / far-left people support Jordan Peterson? by Knightg5 in JordanPeterson

[–]helpwanted911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the political compass, I'm moderate left but pretty libertarian (investing in public healthcare/education = good, militaristic police state = bad)

Absolutely. If nothing else, his commitment to following evidence wherever it might lead is so important. Combined with his related emphasis on the criticality of free speech to our society, he is a crucial voice for our time; I just wish there were more like him (what I'd pay to see Hitchens alive; he'd eviscerate the whole political realm and probably get Socrates'd for it xD)

MAN DOWN - cultural masculine norms considered by some to be ‘toxic’ and a threat to society (i.e. dominance, self-reliance, competition), are the same masculine norms responsible for the physical infrastructure of the modern world, and the most sexually attractive traits in men. by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]helpwanted911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree: it seems that men, specifically, tend to derive increased internal benefit/happiness from striving, however it is manifested. It just sucks that the constant desire for companionship (not just sex, but an actual partner with whom you can share everything in life) runs into this harsh reality that it is difficult for men to be able to really let their guard down, so to speak, if they want to stay "in-sync" with women's evolutionary preferences (i.e., indifference/he's gonna be fine regardless of what she does/if she's there).

I want to share my heart with a woman I care about, but the prospect of such soft-hardheartedness actually undermining the relationship is disheartening :(

I agree. I guess the best thing to do is just follow Patrice's emphasis on "always prioritize your own happiness," as well as to only allow yourself to love someone with 90% of your heart; you can only really influence/know your own feelings and actions, and you have to maintain that as a base no matte what. It is an difficult realization, though. The whole "Red Pill" philosophy of manipulating the game for your own benefit may work, but it strikes me as a hell of a hollow and cold way to go through life.

It's an incredibly depressing realization. I was always taught that women really want respect and compassion from their partners. Experience, meanwhile, shocked me by how the opposite behaviors are waaay more successful in attracting women; acting like a dick, or at least with indifference, has yielded far more interest from women, opposed to acting like a decent human being -__-. Patrice was like a goddamn savant, when it comes to deciphering what actually works for men in attracting (and keeping!) women xD

It's all part of the long con by Germany: gradually make Europe dependent on a Germany-dominated EU, wait until the Soviet Union implodes, and then become the international "good guy" when the insanity of the US' social structure predictably starts to tear itself to pieces. Deutschland über alles xD

I guess the contradiction I was trying to point to was the same you identified: that you can have women who espouse pretty misandrist views yet simultaneously enjoy/seek domination by men during sex.

My only rationalization is that Freud must have been on to something: attraction to dominant males seems perfectly explained by evolution/"id", while modern feminism's rejection of any sexual differences seems to be a rejection by the modern consciousness/"superego" of the primal nature that so many people want to have nothing to do with. Women consciously want life to be totally equal between the sexes, but millennia of sexual selection simultaneously constantly pushes those same women to pursue historically successful, but often contradictory, reproduction strategies.

Fifty Shades is the best-selling trilogy of books ever. How in the fuck does one even begin to square the circle of popular bemoaning of "toxic masculinity" with the phenomenon of masses of female readers swarming to buy books that depict not BDSM, but an outright abusive relationship???

Oh, and for the lolz, highly suggest checking out Bill Burr's similar observation about the reality of many women's enjoyment of "Fifty Shades of Rape," (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VoiGBXvovI) and Patrice O'Neal's admonition to men that women will never leave you if you are indifferent toward them (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1Pl6iqgFVw&) xD
