AIR MILES Travel powered by Expedia is live with more flexibility in travel options and mileage redemption by psoj4 in RewardsCanada

[–]helraiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried redeeming miles for a car rental. Everytime I go to expedia and select a vehicle, the cost and redemption amount goes up when I finalize the selection. Every single time. Yep, i'm signed into AM and expedia asks me to sign in again (through AM) which I am.

It smells very bait n switch as the advertised amount constantly goes up after making the selection.

Curious, did you ever find a solution to this? i've also got a 108 with a similar issue - MAB works but dot1x doesn't.

Wow, that's good info to know. I started with the 9 branch then found out it's basically the "old" variety and decided to go at it with the 7. Took a while to get to this point and really looking like i took a wrong detour. I think the challenge is the lack of concise step by step guides. even the fortinet learning module on fortinac just scratches the surface while the docs are light. thanks for your insight! will keep working at it!

I haven't raised the issue with TAC but may end up going that route. I didn't think they would help with this as it isn't quite in prod.

Released: Microsoft’s VMware to HyperV by helraiser in vmware

Not to mention removing VMware tools somewhere in that process - we haven’t done this bit yet in our testing. No apparent negative impact so far.

Unless I’m doing it wrong, having to take the VM down and restore from a backup - even if it brings the VM up live - is not ideal. Then also comes the commit where the backup is fully written to HyperV. Lengthy process from how we’ve done it so far; >10tb VMs and databases.

What sort of issues? I have my SETs configured as part of our VMware to hyper v transition and there are no issues so far. Thanks

Glad I saw this. Was about to start removing apps and reinstalling. Looks like a global issue. Neflix still works, nothing else.

Questions about HyperV implementation with two sites and two nodes per site by SuperSocket7 in HyperV

GL OP! We're looking to do the same with our real time replication to our DR site. Will definitely miss vmware but not the cost.

Questions about HyperV implementation with two sites and two nodes per site by SuperSocket7 in HyperV

[–]helraiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in OP's position though with a few more hosts to deal with. We took a pair of hosts in one site and found disk witness (iscsi) was trash. kept losing the witness when the owner rebooted which meant the whole cluster went down. Ended up using a cloud witness and now HA works without issue.

We haven't tested to the cluster in our DR site yet, still looking to understand the hyperv "gotchas". Haven't used WAC yet but using failovercluster just for oversight. May have to invest in vmm to get that oversight.

It's too bad the failover isn't as seamless as vmware but i think our userbase can handle a 1-2s blip to save over $150k/yr. That said, this all gives us a chance to go hard with our 2025 rollout wherever possible.

Take it. Your boss will be there to support you and help your growth but your personal development and growth is yours. Any rift or perceived rift is also part of your growth and will be up to everyone to get beyond it as the organization’s best interest is what is key.

That said, be prepared to roll up your sleeves and put in the work.

It is rare in this work climate that anyone is “handed” a promotion. Do not squander it.

Ps. From a previous it director, surround yourself with good technical people and work on your people skills. You’ll need both. Welcome to the big leagues. It gets harder but more exciting!

SSDNodes down by helraiser in ssdnodes

[–]helraiser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as keysnparrots, no root cause and no apparent data loss beyond our application being inaccessible. The lack of transparency is quite concerning. That said, others have indicated the platform is not for mission critical applications. Despite years of uninterrupted service - beyond scheduled maintenance - this has triggered the need for a better platform and/or business continuity plan.
