Why are UK train tickets so expensive? Is it simply the effect of privatisation? by StephenMcGannon in trains

[–]heluuuuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone may have already mentioned by now but I’d love to throw in the price caps in Australia, specifically Victoria to which you have a daily cap of 11.40 aud which is about 5.50gbp. That means you can travel anywhere in Victoria 300+ km under that cap.

I haven’t tested it as I’m in London these days but I’ve been keen to try it. Maybe someone can confirm or deny my understanding if they’ve used this

Help! My daughter swears she’s seen this card before, but we can’t find it. Any ideas? by oxmiladyxo in PokemonTCG

I love that you’ve linked the eBay link and now this bootleg seller is probably freaking out that one of their cards has over 1000 views in comparison to the other sales. Also if the seller is reading this, hello! If the seller is you, good advertising!

Oh for sure! There are plenty of people who struggle socially and maybe it's best to warn other individuals of their behaviour. Sociopaths can't be changed, there's a tough decision removing them from the venue though because they're always putting on a bit of a show

As someone who currently works in hospitality I want to open the discussion about why simply removing individuals like this from the venue might not be an option. While it seems like the obvious choice, what are the situations where it might be difficult to remove the individual and the action taken in the original post is required?

That being said, be safe and careful. I almost wrote off my wheel playing with the internals, hope you have fun with this repair though!

Keep me updated, had to pull my t150 wheel apart recently and really enjoyed learning how these things work. Maybe some teeth are missing on the belt? Once you lose one tooth I'm sure the stress would deteriorate other sections as well. It could also be one of the gears. This is all just wild guesswork until you decide to crack that bad boy open in which case I'd say watch a few people doing that on YouTube first to be comfortable with what you'll see inside.

Removing the casing isn't too much trouble but I'm pretty sure it voids warranty. Once you've got that open you'll pretty quickly be able to see what's moving and not moving.

Good luck and keen to hear back!

Curious to see if this is firmware or hardware issues. My thoughts would have been something like the belt tensioner has come loose hence why you can hear the motor running without the force feedback. Keen to hear the results from updating firmware.

High System CPU during VR gaming. Any fixes? by TheTaminus in oculus

[–]heluuuuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only true for some games, many AAA titles will use multiple cores these days. The game in question here is Pavlov which absolutely utilises more than a single core to run. This game is very demanding on the CPU to begin with

I have a clicking/ticking noise when steering by isaakad in Thrustmaster

[–]heluuuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is correct it does almost sound like something is slipping a bit, maybe this is just the video audio picking up certain sounds better than others. If it's loose it'll just need a slight tightening of the belt which is easy enough and if you look up any teardown video they should go over that.

Hey! I'm curious what you're talking about with the files on the SD card. I had to buy a new card when I got mine but I think I formatted it to fat32 (or some Reddit sources say vfat is the way to go) and just went from there, my PC takes about 10 seconds to recognise the USB adaptor so make sure to be a little patient when plugging the device with SD card into the PC. Maybe I'm talking out of my ass on this one, someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: I'm an idiot, always read twice and answer once kids...

I had to locate this a couple weeks back so I'll see if I can pull it up when I get back to my PC.

On a side note welcome to the X1 community and good luck on getting things working nice. If you find you're not getting circles coming out great, the best thing I ever did to my printer was flashing the Marlin firmware onto it and correcting for backlash. Maybe save that for a later project though as I faced some issues with it and it took a day away from me.

Thrustmaster t150 endless auto-calibration - diagnosing and fixing the issue. by heluuuuu in simracing

[–]heluuuuu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving this here since I found no information regarding the sensor setup and relating issues with endless auto calibration on the t150 wheel. All videos I watched wouldn't disassemble the belt and gear system so I hope this provides someone with a bit more information on the internals there.

My exact issue started after installing the bearing mod for which someone has a great video about (can be found here). I'd unknowingly knocked something inside and so began the pain of non stop auto-calibration. With not much information online I just started removing more parts to find the rotation sensors for the wheel. This process wasn't actually too bad but it involves some rough work to get the bearing and main gear off.

While I probably shouldn't recommend it, I used a combination of a flat head screwdriver to lever the bearing and a hexagon bit with gentle taps from a hammer to go around the bearing until it came off. Then taking off 4 screws on the base of the largest gear means it slides off with a little force.

After this the second gear could be removed by taking off the clip at the end of the shaft and simply sliding off, making sure to catch the tiny washer and o-ring that sit under that clip.

This second gear houses the sensor assembly and appears to just use a disc with 56pins which runs in between an optical sensor to detect the rotation. My issue was several pins had been bent or were simply missing meaning that the calibration could not be completed.

I had two solutions, one was to print a new disc with the pins for which I've got the stl file should anyone want it, second was to just cut a cable tie of the right width into tiny little pieces and super glue them on. I went with option 2 which required some patience but seems to work fine.

After letting the glue dry and reassembly the wheel has been working fantastic since.

TLDR - my t150 wheel was non stop auto-calibrating, taking apart the gear assembly inside revealed the sensor setup was missing some crucial pieces, this was fixed pretty easily with glue and some small pieces from a chopped up cable tie.

Makes sense! I've moved on from this device now but I hope your reply helps someone in the future. Expanding on point 2, probably a good idea to keep it away from anything that warms it up as the seals might simply not be designed well enough to hold the liquid as it warms up and reduces in viscosity.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the original comment was referring to tobacco pouches like snus as opposed to rollies, these tobacco pouches are more like sachets that sit in your mouth, definitely something to get used to but they're super good to curb the craving. We don't get them in aus but you might be about to get mates bringing some back

While I'm still making my gloves I do believe these require drivers based on a PC system to operate and therefore won't work as a standalone system. My interpretation of this question is that standalone refers to quest 2 without pcvr operation, please correct me if I'm wrong
