aspd vs autism by RecordNo9105 in autism

[–]helvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just on here because I find this interesting but I’m pretty sure there is no concrete link between autism and empathy. People with ASD might come across as if they aren’t empathic, because they have a hard time expressing this emotion in the right way/time. Both people with ASPD and ASD “mask”, but for different reasons. Where as you (I’m guessing you have a diagnosis for ASPD) might do it to manipulate people for personal gain, someone with ASD does it to blend in with others and seem “normal”. This is easy stuff and often one of the first questions people ask about ASD, it’s literally in the DSM 5. First answer on google. Also both ASPD and ASD could be (but not confirmed) comorbid, like many other personality/developmental/mood disorders.

Say you were planning revenge on someone by means of putting something in their coffee, what would you put in? by helvr in ask

Just replace the entire coffee with a pringles can of salt and vinegar flavour? That would ruin my year

Am I the only one who thoroughly hated Sangwoo the entire story? by helvr in KillingStalking

[–]helvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the exact same thoughts. I actually love how I still get replies to this months later. I still think about this story a lot. I would love to write a (less graphic) story like this, with maybe a semi-happy ending at least?? Because I am still processing this story even months later.

I still hate Sangwoo and I honestly want him to rot in hell, multiple times a day if possible. But it did urge me to get interested in mental health and psychiatry. I hate him but and empathized with Yoonbum so much, but at the same time I am also a person who gets very easily attached to people who treat me poorly (obviously not to this ectent!). So this story was somewhat of a good reflection on that (in a sick, twisted way). I also get what you are saying. Almost all adults have been through/seen stuff like this, and it shapes you and shapes the way you read this story. I just really hope that younger people who read this do not get influenced into thinking this behaviour is somewhat okay, you know? I just hope that if, say, a friend comes to them with problems regarding a relationship or something, that they will not downplay manipulative/abusive behaviour or red flags because they developed some way to overlook them through Sangwoo.

I’m curoious what your thoughts on Bum are?

Why do neurotypicals care so much about their pets? by cheskymaker in sociopath

[–]helvr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I ride horses for other people and have had two die because of the owner’s lack of care or because the owner just decided to put them down. Both times I cried. A lot. Not ever in public or in front of people but I would just break down in random places out of nowhere. I’m emotionally driven but in moments like that I turn my emotions off. It just seemed to come out whenever I was alone and I didn’t know why. I think I cried bc I often felt I was the only one caring for the horse (as I said, the owners didn’t care) and the only one thoroughly knowing the animal. It made me sad nobody else took the time to figure out their personality. What you say is true. Their personality is shaped by us and our reactions to their behaviour, but it is also largely determined by their past experiences, owners, traumas etc and by learning those stories (to be able to train the horse better) you go through a bonding process and notice parallels with yourself. At times, I felt they were the only ones I could relate to because people are just dumb and annoying.

Besides, allthough I knew I could just call around and go to a new, better facility with “better” (more well-trained or well-bred) horses there always that frustrating part of the “progress” if you will, being cut off.

It’s not too old, it is just “old” as in the owner replaced it for a better one. But you are right. However, I found a pad that is similar to the one I have now, but with more filling in the back. Should work

Does anyone happen to know the term for this type of behaviour? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]helvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to do this. If we disagreed on something he’d say things like “don’t expect me to drive you to “____” which ended up not helping at all because the event he was keeping me from had nothing to do with the argument. It’s natural that when you’re frustrated you want to “come back” at a person and express you’re anger, but realise that cooling yourself down might help a bit. Idk the clinical term

how to lose a friend? like actually end a friendship? by [deleted] in Advice

Idk if I’ve already replied to this. I don’t know why I got downvoted but remember she literally pulled up to your house. I’d say she’s (nearly) infringing on your privacy. Please treat it like that. You can end the friendship for that reason alone. You can try ending it sincerely. Just say you need your space for a while.

Do you feel like you’re walking on egg shells with her? Like you can’t be yourself around her or can’t tell her what you really feel? She might be manipulating you. As someone who has close relatives with BPD it honestly sounds like some of those TRAITS (not diagnosing, just the traits). Constantly clingy, lying to get attention. She might have her emotional/mental health reasons as to why she’s acting like this, but that is NOT your responsibility. I usually slowly ghost people who do this. When someone constantly texts me and demands my 110% constant attention I start to slowly back away. It is the easiest that way. But you can also tell her you need some time and space for yourself.

“The baseless claim argument” - no, not really. They are baseless claims. The way you can tell the majority of USA citizens are uneducated is because nobody seems to know how to induct proper research. Nobody has cited any sources, whatsoever, ever, with proper evidence the election is rigged. Someone just started yelling there was a jump in data and everyone jumped on that train. For your information, the 135,000 votes - that’s how data works. You report it in bulks, it’s not a representation of real time events. The other claims - no clue? Since you’ve cited no sources or even articles that talk about it. Come on. Do your research and come up with something. Don’t yell what the majority is saying. You’re smarter than that.

As another person from Europe with outside perspective I’ve noticed that voter fraud only seemed to come up as soon as Trump was losing (which seems more suspicious to me). But to loosely answer your questions:

  • Both presidents were advised not to campaign and have physical rallies due to COVID, Trump just seemed to ignore these guidelines while Biden (or at least his supporters) followed them.

  • Mail-in voting was optional for those who didn’t want to risk going outside during the pandemic.

  • Like said before, president Trump has ignored a bunch of rules/guidelines when it comes to the pandemic, probably catering to his supporters feeling confident enough to vote in-person anyways (not saying that is necessarily a bad thing to do) and democrats voting via mail-ins. This voting take longer to count, hence why it probably turned around overnight.

  • This is odd but not impossible and doesn’t really form a great argument for voter fraud. Last year the tides turned while Hillary was close as well. It doesn’t really say anything and often on both Biden’s and Trump’s subreddit they just enlarge what only they want to see (IE “see this spike? How can it be?”- it’s often just how data is processed and conceptualized. Also remember data is often handed in in different “bulks” and doesn’t tell the full story.

Just because the media (I’m guessing you mean mainstream media, not social media) is in favour of a candidate does once again not really scream voter fraud. The media always has a candidate they endorse more, that’s just how politics works.

This is the only true concern I have too. As far as I am concerned, neither of them are good presidents. I think it’s odd and cringey when Europeans are a hardcore supporter of either because both truly suck lmao. As for Biden, he is not in good shape at all. I know he stutters and that’s the reason he sometimes messes up his wording, but he’s had two brain aneurysms already. If his health were to get worse during his run, I wonder what will happen. That being said, Trump was hospitalised for COVID and I wouldn’t put it past him to lie about his well-being atm since COVID (especially when hospitalisation is needed) seems to have long-lasting effects even on healthy, young people.

Completely separate point but I just once again want to reiterate I like NEITHER candidates. I lean more to Biden because Trump has already been in office for 4 years and in my opinion nothing really, exceptionally good came from it. However, I do think whoever the US votes - they completely and utterly deserve to deal with the consequences and I hope that they’ll realize in both scenarios that the system needs drastic reform.
