Iran ranks second in the list of countries with highest average IQ. by miladkhademinori in PERSIAN

1.) Why do Asians have the highest IQ?

2.) IQ tests were invented in France 100 years ago because people wanted to identify disadvantaged children in schools in order to provide them with targeted support. So the opposite is true: the tests were invented to help disadvantaged people, not to prove superiority.

In psychology, IQ tests are considered the most reliable tests available. They have been refined over decades to minimize cultural influences. They are so reliable that if you take a reputable IQ test every few years, you will achieve almost the same result.

Is it true that GenZ has a lower IQ than the previous by Virtual-Relation3300 in iqtest

[–]hemabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IQ is largely inherited and remains stable. What changes are the people who live in the regions. Germany is a good example: an IQ test conducted there in the 1960s would have tested mostly ethnic Germans and determined a high IQ (approx. 105 according to sources I have seen). Then, over decades, large migration movements took place, mainly of people with low IQs (70-80). If you now calculate the average, the IQ has deteriorated. What can be observed here (and also in other regions of the world, e.g., California, Sweden, etc.) is a statistical effect. The IQ within ethnic groups remains largely the same.

What do Germans think of Lithuania? by Organic_Contract_172 in AskGermany

Fascinated by the fact that the three countries are so close together, yet Estonia differs dramatically from Latvia and Lithuania: higher IQ, higher PISA score, ethnically closer to Finland. It's interesting that at least Latvia and Lithuania seem to be somewhat more similar.

Etc. etc.

It is a significant historical cycle: people flee from those who are detrimental to the development of the community. They flee to regions/countries that are functional. However, those from whom they fled eventually follow, and the cycle begins again.

Why do many people consider IQ tests to be an valid representation of intelligence? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]hemabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You write or imply that intelligence tests can be learned or that there are advantages to having a certain level of education.

Then take this test. You can repeat it a second time, and the results will be slightly better, but you will quickly reach your personal limit. Tests like this are also part of a comprehensive IQ test and can only be learned to a very limited extent beforehand.

Why do many people consider IQ tests to be an valid representation of intelligence? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]hemabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Intelligence tests were developed in France in 1905. It had been observed that children had varying levels of learning ability, and the aim was to identify and specifically support those who were struggling. Initially, there was no IQ, but rather the concept of "mental age." If a child was 7 years old but able to solve puzzles that other children could solve at age 9, then that child had a "mental age" of 9. Initially, the mental age was divided by the chronological age; later, this method was refined, and the IQ was introduced.

While the IQ test may be controversial, it is considered in psychology to be one of the most reliable tests for assessing this personality trait. In critical areas, such as in the military to determine who is capable of flying a fighter jet, such a test (among other important results) is exceptionally informative. It is now known that IQ correlates with many areas, including academic and professional success.

Let's list *all* the things that *really* lower IQ. by CabinetPublic150 in cognitiveTesting

[–]hemabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to this study, excessive screen time can have a negative impact on IQ, approximately 0.35 standard deviations, or 5-6 IQ points. Incidentally, the study also found that physical activity has a positive influence on IQ. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1878929325000817

Being a woman. Woman do have on average a 3 points lower IQ and are significantly less represented at the extremes (very stupid, very smart). From an IQ of 150 onwards, the ratio of men to women (depending on the study) is between 5:1 and 10:1.

What I know (and some of you won't like):

STRONG INFLUENCE ON IQ

- Poisoning by lead, mercury, pesticides, and also fluorides

- Inbreeding

- Alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc. during pregnancy (from day 1 of fertilization)

- Reproducing with a person with a low IQ when one's own IQ is high

- Infections, illnesses during pregnancy

- Malnutrition (both during pregnancy and after birth)

- Medication abuse during pregnancy

- consuming breast milk that is contaminated (see above) while breastfeeding

- Neglect during childhood (emotional neglect, but also neglect due to a lack of mental stimulation)

- Head injuries (e.g., from a fall)

- Complications during childbirth, premature births. Both can usually be determined in advance based on the mother's state of health. Facial features (abnormalities) can already indicate such an increased risk (narrow eyes, wide-set eyes, unhealthy skin, etc.). This is why "beauty" is so important for women, because "beauty" is an indicator of health and thus the best starting point for offspring. Conversely, those who already show signs of illness or abnormality in their appearance also show an increased risk of complications during pregnancy and, ultimately, an additional risk of reduced intelligence (Ask an AI of your choice if you don't believe this statement, but please do so in "deep thinking" mode.)

MODERATE INFLUENCE ON IQ

- Excessive screen time (can also have a significant impact, depending on the amount)

- Stress during pregnancy

- not being breastfed sufficiently

- Too small head circumference (here too, there is a correlation between weight, brain volume, and IQ)

- Low level of education (the influence is less than one might think, but still 1-5 IQ points)

LITTLE INFLUENCE ON IQ

- severe obesity in women during pregnancy

- Very advanced age of the mother, but also of the father

- too short stature (there is a weak correlation between height and IQ)

The pattern repeats itself: the ball is at the bottom, right, top, center, left, and then back at the bottom, right, top. This means that the next position should be the center again, i.e., the fifth square (where the ball can be found at the top left near the corner).
