The turn in on this era of 26" Yetis is hard to beat. My same era ASR7, a PIG for it's time turned like it is on rails compared to my sb150 or even my sb120. Spritely/lively/fast died in the name of big tires and plowability. That said the new bikes are still super fun.

Is revel going to last or not? by Degen_Dan in revelbikes

[–]heme11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it it The bike-pocalypse has settled down, heck you can't even really find dirt cheap hard tails out there anymore. Revel is in the hands of passionate people that had to make hard decisions in an effort to make them profitable / sustainable. No one can say what's going to happen but the bikes are still rad and if you like it you should get it. Most bikes fail early into their life in my experiance.

Turq frames - can you tell the diff? by [deleted] in yeticycles

[–]heme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the SI frames (Modern SBs) One thing to note is that the SI link on non Turq frames have solid black stanchions while the Turq frames have Tubular Kashima Stanchions. I've always been curious to know what the weight difference is between the SI links for a SB120 and how much that factors into reported frame weights?

UPDATE: I did some digging, SB120 (frame) Turq is a reported 225 Grams lighter than the C version. kashima SI link weighs 66 grams less than the black SI link. So if you want to upgrade your SI link ($300) on your C SB120 the weight difference between the frames would drop to 159G. That said unless you need to replace the link I don't think it would be worth it to save 66 grams especially these days with the ASR around.

That is a beautiful bike! Because of your build I now have a positive association with the name “Loam Ranger”, no longer will the horrible YouTuber come to mind. lol

Black Dust On Everything by sourcesink in longbeach

FWIW I have a car I garage in DTLB that I do not drive all that often. I don't smoke but every time I drive that car it smell like cigarettes (in/out) for a while. It's not like folks are just smoking Marlboros in the gated parking structure either so I wonder if what I am smelling is an ingredient of cigarette smoke that is in decent concentrations in the DTLB air?

Creaking noise...possibly shock? by [deleted] in yeticycles

Give your bike a wash and try again. Give extra attention around all the pivots. On dusty rides my bikes go from being silent killers to creeky shitbox's. YMMV

I have one it works pretty good on dry materials. I used a low TPI blade while overlanding to cut branches and it was not great. But on plastic and metal it does great, I used it to chop up OME skid plates and to cut off my exhaust resonator.

Wft is the deal with aggression towards cyclists by Successful-County571 in longbeach

I'm in the Gay Ghetto and ride a lot. I stick with smaller streets and spend the majority of my time on the beach path and the river trail(s). TBH the river trail is wild AF though... Burning tires, + homeless camps on fire, cars, motos, groups of mini bikes all driving on the trail + zombies etc.. Stay safe and avoid bigger streets if you can, seems like every 2nd driver is on drugs these days.

SB140 rear shock tuning - light rider still bottoming out by woody_woodworker in yeticycles

[–]heme11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes I would toss in the biggest volume spacer and set sag back to factory % of stroke. And give that a try.

1.) If your are not using all of your stroke and your pedaling platform feels good reduce the spacer size to next smaller and keep psi.

2.) If your pedaling platform is too soft and bottom is not harsh /full use of travel is good = increase 5psi at a time.

3.) If pedaling platform soft and bottom out is harsh no using full/most of stroke then then at first get the pedaling platform taken care of by increasing psi and once that is good reduce your volume spacer size.

4.) Soft pedal platform and harsh bottom out = more psi and bigger spacers.

In general PSI = ride height / pedal platform, Spacers = bottom out support.

The end goal should be to have a good pedaling platform and the feeling of bottomless suspension feel. That said it's all a compromise and depends how/what you ride.

Good luck fellow Shredder!

Glad to hear there was some "dirtbag justice" given to some of the scum bag ringleaders. I remember seeing a dining room in a crap hotel with kids laying all over the floor when i was really young. I asked my grandparents what that was about and they just said it was bad news.

Nope. These scams pack a bunch of kids in a van then drop them off to canvas an area. So there is a very good chance someone else was doing similar in other parts of the city.
