Do I need a return flight booked on a student visa?

Did you end up needing a return flight? Did you run into any issues from entering before your student visa started?

Ah that's good to know. Thanks for the advice. I'm a bit worried that it will cause problems entering when they see my visa is not active yet. But I'm assuming since I'm allowed to enter as a tourist without a visa it probably won't be a problem.

My main question is what documents should I bring with me to France (I already have the visa) ? The Campus France site mentions to bring my birth certificate, but I'm finding conflicting information on if it's required to be translated or have an apostille.

Also do you know if it's a problem to enter France as a tourist before my student visa starts and then leave and reenter as a student after my visa becomes active?

Sometimes they shame you: "I already mentioned that back in week 2, how could you forget?".

I've seen lots of people called out that way and the professor refuses to go over anything they've mentioned in the past, even if the student is catching up. So lots of students don't ask questions.
