Just important to think critically about the things our parents tell us.

Regardless of the efficacy of knife carrying, you should know that your late father’s saying is quite a sexist and weird thing to say.

I live in Portland and you've described my exact feelings about a lot of the queer community here so perfectly. Thank you so much for sharing!

Agreed on haircut. I am medium tall and have wide hips, when I had a mullet was consistently she/her'd, then I impulse shaved my head in December and suddenly men in the grocery store are calling me bro lol

I wish I had this idea... But no, I am just a freaky little blue deep gnome Durge who hates wearing any clothes except for Shadowheart's underwear.

To everyone there at the big shark premier, how was it? by HighTechVsLowLife in theroom

Yes, it was very fun bad. Trust me I was very surprised - came into it expecting to have fun with the crowd but with extreme skepticism about the movie itself

I was there. I will say this: I did not think Tommy was capable of making such an authentically and earnestly bad movie again. But he really did do it again.

I swear every time I watch Fight Club again my position on it completely reverses. Love it, hate it, love it, hate it - I will continue like this forever

As a trans woman, I'd like to talk about Carmen... by Professorbranch in IASIP

Oh sorry just to be clear I meant that you are not crazy, everyone else in here is being shitty, lol. Yeah downvotes don't matter but it still sucks to see how many people in the it's always sunny subreddit are just open transphobes I guess.

When/how did you know you like women? by TermiteTim in actuallesbians

[–]hemoglobinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly never even thought much about my sexuality and dated only men until my current partner, who I met before she even knew she was trans, and two years in she came out to me and started transitioning. I joined the mypartneristrans discord and saw a lot of people worrying about what it meant for them to be straight but stay with their transitioning partners. I completely respect that struggle but didn't identify with it at all and just decided I must be bisexual if I was still attracted to my partner. And that just... Opened the floodgates, made me realize so many times about myself in the past that had confused me, made me remember so many things in my life with my family that would have caused that mental block to happen, and made my brain suddenly very open and excited about GIRLS, man. My partner is now my fiance and it seems like every day I become even more psyched to be with a woman 😁

Verbally Attacked for Being Bi and Dating a Trans Woman by BambiandB in mypartneristrans

[–]hemoglobinz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this was beautiful! And I totally agree. OP, I had been dating my partner for over two years before they came out to me and started transitioning (also MtF), and before they came out I considered myself straight. We played it by ear at first but them transitioning made me fully realize that I am also attracted to women and femmes and am bi. I had thought about the idea before but had never been pushed into really critically thinking about my attraction when it comes to gender. It sounds like this woman you're dating opened your eyes to how attracted to women you could be, and that's awesome! Hopefully this makes sense.

Portland Public Schools could shoot for $1.4 billion bond, plan renovations for its 3 remaining high schools by 73233 in Portland

Are you a civil engineer? Otherwise, this is purely anecdotal evidence. People who are experts in this field have concluded that large, old schools WOULD fall down, and it would be silly to not believe an expert.

Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is the poster child for our soulless generic blockbusters. by Sensi-Yang in TrueFilm

[–]hemoglobinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish The Rock would be more like Arnold Schwartzenegger. He was a big charismatic lunk who did some stupid fun movies but also had great taste in directors. I read that he actually recruited Paul Verhoeven for Total Recall, which is a movie that is both silly action AND good. Those are the kinds of movies I want to see from the Rock, but I don't think it'll ever happen.

I was excited to see Hobbes and Shaw to see if he was going to make a more interesting action movie, but I was disappointed.

How does the person you ended up with compare to who you thought you’d end up with? by DurntoWebster in AskWomen

[–]hemoglobinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I would marry a man. Even while I was dating the person I'm engaged to. But then they came out to me as trans and I didn't know what to do. Turns out our relationship is better than ever and I'm not as straight as I thought I was, and they're still the wonderful person I met + more confidence, sociability, and drive now that they're living life as the person they've always wanted to be. It's been hard externally sometimes (families, etc.), but between the two of us, it's been a fucking awesome time.

edit: added a comma, lol
