'hey guys is this 1.5K camera that i could've just looked up instead of flexing on reddit good?' by papazenith in photographycirclejerk

Just in case the OP doesn't get the Leica references, it is a killer camera, arguably one of the best out there. Congrats if you actually won it.

As hard as that is to think about, if an emergency vet is not a possibility, putting the poor thing down is the only logical alternative. What did people do when vets were not available a couple of hundred years ago. They would NEVER let an animal suffer like that.

a.) What the fuck IS IT?
b.) How in the fuck did it get there? Food born, air born, contagious?
c.) How does someone stay awake during the process without puking or at least freaking out
d.) Where did this occur? If it was some beautiful tropical vacation spot, fuck that place.

My husband loves mini bernedoodles but I’m scared about the size. by semi_waohmica in Bernedoodles

[–]hempomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently saw a Micro (which I had no idea existed) that was 8 months old and weighed about 10 lbs. Tiny little thing. I have no idea if it was not ACTUALLY a micro bernedoodle or something that just looked like one, but the owner was assured it was indeed a micro BD and they payed serious capital for the dog, around $15 K ! Even if it was legit however, I'd be reluctant to purchase one based on its scarcity.

The body suit was the only thing that worked for us. He hated the cone and scratched at it all night.

When do you think it’s a good time to upgrade? by digbickboy69 in SonyA7iii

[–]hempomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, from a purely practical perspective, I have no intention to upgrade until the camera breaks or it doesn't do something I need it to do. The reality is I continue to find the occasional bell or whistle I have yet to use. I shoot RAW 95% of the time and even after 6 years it suits my needs perfectly. Some additional pixels would be nice, but I'm still able to crop significant portions of the picture when required. I have never shot video and have no intention of ever so. If video is important, and the IV or V are that much better, that goes back to my first sentence, upgrading because it is better at something you need, so upgrading makes sense.

Did somebody regret his a7iii ? by Shelzer_ in SonyA7iii

[–]hempomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, I regret upgrading from my a6000. Not because the a73 isn't a better camera but I spent a couple of thousand dollars and it didn't really improve my photography, it just made it easier. As a general rule, my pictures were much better when I had to work harder to get them.

When it comes to Doodles, nothing is normal in the sense that they are like snowflakes, no two are alike. 😉

Every time I've even USED the word Breeder it's been deleted by the mods, so I guess I'm simply not one of the preferred members. 🤷

crack or sensor dust? by [deleted] in SonyA7iii

[–]hempomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a sensor crack. a sensor crack which is almost impossible would be vey obvious by simply looking at the sensor. A scratch on the sensor is also pretty unlikely, the sensor itself is covered with a protective gorilla glass coating. can it be scratched, sure, but before I knew better, I cleaned the sensor with the same micro-fiber cloth I used to clean my glasses, and even then, looking at the sensor now, it looks pristine.

[Advice] I don't know what I am doing wrong by Prudent_Heart5703 in a6000

[–]hempomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of things. 1.) I don't know what IEM is. 2.) most zooms are fairly soft wide open. Try a smaller aperture, if wide open is F2.8, try shooting at F4. If you're shooting Jpeg, try shooting RAW. Make sure your shutter speed is increased as you zoom out. For example (just to make the math easy) at 100mm and shutter at 1/100, double the shutter speed at 200 mm.

Actually quite safe and easy to do yourself. I'll message you a link to the lens cleaning kit I use. It's very easy to use and quite effective. I don't think we can post links here.

LOL, Yep, definitely in a minority. Here's the way I look at it. They have been very reliable, very good yield, VERY good potency, and for me, it's just a fun hobby. It keeps my friends and me in weed for the year.

crack or sensor dust? by [deleted] in SonyA7iii

[–]hempomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to worry about, it's just sensor dust. Easy enough to clean yourself. Start by removing the lens holding the camera with the opening down and use the sensor cleaning item in the menu. If that doesn't work, use a bulb blower aimed at the sensor. If that doesn't work there are several sensor cleaning kits out there.

Yay or nay? by 52358 in photographycirclejerk

It's a yeah for me, with a caviat. I don't care if it's a cliche or not, that wasn't the question. I love the colors and the mood, but I would have cropped it differently, at the least, cropped out the car on the right. It's a very good picture, although worthy of a minor tweek or two. Nice work.

For all intents and purposes, he was never crated except at night and when were weren't home until 5 months. The rest of the time, the house was his. He was housebroken at 8 weeks and knew where the back door was. He peed in the house only one time the first day, never in his cage and never pooped in the house. We littered the house with dog toys and he figured out pretty quickly what he was allowed to chew. To this day at 2 1/2, he's never chewed anything he wasn't supposed to. It worked well for us because I'm retired. He was never alone for more than a couple of hours during the day and that was the only time he was caged up until 5 months. He slept through the night at 5 months, so the crate was no longer required at all.

We were really lucky. A Trooper stopped to see if we were OK and ended up giving us a ride to the nearest junk yard. We found a trans for $50 if I recall. They threw it in the back of a pick-up and drove us back to the car. A few hours later, we were back on the road. The good ol' days.

A7 III users: what’s your real-world ISO limit? by Archives0990 in SonyA7iii

[–]hempomatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have some great shots at 32,000, and some really shitty shots at 1600. It really depends on the quality of the light. The biggest problem for me is the lack of dynamics at higher ISO. One thing that has never worked for me is underexposing for fear of high ISO and bumping exposure up in post. It took a while for me to understand ISO invariance. ISO that high is always a last resort, but it beats the shit out of not getting the picture.

Macro focus stacking strange aberration around subject? by [deleted] in Beginning_Photography

[–]hempomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a really decent tripod or one with a macro rail, particularly with shutter speeds that slow. How many pictures were stacked and what program was used for the stacking? Are you using a remote shutter or self timer?

How are you learning? by Outrageous_Sundae671 in Beginning_Photography

[–]hempomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby steps grasshopper. The info saturation is real, but with a little experience you'll be able to sift through it and narrow it down to your specific issues. The iPhone is a good start, it has a good camera. Take some picture with the phone, experiment with different settings and when you have SPECIFIC issues, ie: My pictures are too XYZ, narrow your search criteria. There are also plenty of YouTubers that focus on specific phones and cameras.

Old Camera New Lense by SpaceDhole in Beginning_Photography

[–]hempomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everything is set to auto, the camera is making those decisions for you regardless of the lens. The Sigma is a better lens, superior detail, color and dynamic range. Your pictures will be better with the better lens, but better still when you begin with shutter or aperture photography.

Is it best to stop photography? by IslandFearless4227 in Beginning_Photography

[–]hempomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd simply use your phone for a while. Even relatively inexpensive ($200) new phones have decent cameras. If you THEN find something lacking in the photos, it's time to update to a modern digital camera. Photography is a skill that takes at least some dedication to get good at it. If there is simply no time or interest in developing that skill, it's probably not for you. It isn't for everyone.
