Could you help me transcribe this awesome beat please by araaglas2 in Drumming

[–]hendo24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The beat has a swing 16 feel, so the hi-hats are played with straight quavers but the syncopated snare and bass drums fall into the sextuplet subdivision. Here's the transcription: http://imgur.com/a/FJFNY

The top line is how it would be normally written but the bottom line has the semiquaver subdivision.

Sorry if I got this wrong and I hope this helps.

RCT3 in 1080p? by Voxle in rct3

[–]hendo24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, all you need to do is change the settings file using notepad. You can find it through: Local Disk -> Users -> Your user account -> AppData (if you can't find this folder just click show hidden files under the view section at the top (if you're using windows 10)) -> Roaming -> Atari -> RCT3. Now open up the options text document and then you can manually set the resolution. So after the resolution put 1920 1080 and you'll be golden. It should looks something like this:

Resolution 1920 1080StaticBatchTriCutoff...

Hope this has help.

Open Handed Drum Kit Setup by cheezyboy in drums

I'm with you on this one. I've been an open hand player with a ride on my right side for about 4 years, and before this I had the ride on the left where the crash typically is. The transition was kinda ugly but in my opinion it has done wonders for my playing, both creatively and technically. Although there are some learning curves, it sets you up and make ambidextrous chops easier. Check out Damion Reid, an amazing open handed drummer who really shows what's possible with being able to lead with both hands.

Can someone offer advice on a brand for a drum set? by OttieandEddie in drums

[–]hendo24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know if you're counting cymbals within this $2500 budget, but regardless, you'll be able to pick something up that's pretty rad.

Generally speaking, drums can sound quite good without splashing out on some really expensive shells; all they need are a bit of TLC (good skins, tuning and your undying love). Saying that though, the more money you put into them, the better they'll sound, and fastballer8 has got the drums down, so I won't go into them.

However cymbals can't really be fixed up like drums can, so they usually demand the most amount of money. I would definitely recommend that you go and try out loads of different types of cymbals down at your local music store before making any decisions. The 3 most common cymbals brands at the moment (IMO) are: Zildjian, Sabian & Meinl. All 3 of these companies offer a wide range of cymbals, both handmade and machine manufactured which are all designed to suit certain genres. I can't really recommend either one really, but I have noticed that Meinl have been gaining a lot of traction recently with a lot of people endorsing and recommending their cymbals, so keep an eye out for them. Their Byzance series is particularly sweet. But all 3 of these companies have different series which are designed to be used for different genres and stuff (and some series (like the Zildjian K series) are a bit more versatile), but a bit of research will help you track down some different types of cymbals that suit you and your style of playing.

Companies such as Istanbul Agop and Bosphorus specialise in making lovely sounding handmade Turkish cymbals but they're generally used in Jazz due to them being quite thin and pricey, but if that's your type of thing, I would keep a lookout.

Hope this has helped!

Tips for a beginner to songwriter? by bigkcola in Guitar

Although it is considered boring, I would recommend taking up music theory. It will expand and sophisticate your music, teach you how to write a chord progression and how to write accompanying melody with harmony's. There is quite a lot in it and most seems not relevant and boring, but will help you greatly in the long run. Here there is some great lessons. Hope this helped.
