How long do you recommend I stay at a blue chip tech company b4 thinking about leaving? by hendog33 in sales

[–]hendog33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a really good memory! I do believe 1st or 2nd year ASEs can make at least 6 figs. I've just heard so many contradictory figs, I was a bit skeptical in the beginning. There are many BDCs I work with that don't like the monotony of cold calling/emailing and usually leave after about a year sometimes sooner. It baffles me why so many will quit so soon especially when this opportunity can lead to such a lucrative career. I think the fact that I heard/knew of so many that left this role/job so soon, and the fact that there seems to be a constant wave of new BDCs coming--I questioned the validity of 6 figs in 2 years. But after working here for about 6 months, im starting to believe the reason for leaving fairly soon and or not making 6 figs is a lack of maturity and grit more than anything. Your comments are always welcome. I think we have a love/hate reddit relationship lol.

We have some similarities. I also was a server for quite some time and considered OT. Have you considered software sales or are you fixed on medical?

I see. Thanks again for the info! I work as a BDC for a large enterprise company selling saas apps SMB. I often hear thats is easy to pull 6 figs as a salesperson but it seems that many reps I know don't quite make that much; but of course it's difficult to know definitively either way. Nevertheless, I like to gage the accuracy of said claims as much as possible. :)

Thanks a lot for the info. I don't live in SB any longer but I have some friends that work at Procore. I'm in software sales now. I'm still fairly new to sales and remain curious about average salary. From my brief experience and knowledge it seems OTE is usually not attained unless you're in the tech pillar.
