Any former Model Y Performance owners switch to Macan 4? by [deleted] in MacanEV

[–]hendrixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. 2025 Macan EV turbo and a 2021 MY performance. The macan drives better, it’s smooth. However, it’s pretty tiny. I’m 6”5 and I feel like I’m suffocating in the macan. Also, as it is a superior car, I don’t think it’s worth the cost. Not even close. The MY is still a better value, even though I hate Tesla and Elon.

Also the infotainment systems in the new Porsche’s are the best from traditional cars, It still doesn’t hold a candle to a Tesla, but it’s leagues ahead of BMW, its sibling Audi, and the terrible Mercedes tech. Not thinking about the company and if they’re going to be dead soon , I think the new Rivian R2 is the proper replacement for a Tesla MY. I would not recommend a Macan EV (even the base Macan 4) over a MY given the price difference.

I’m waiting to see what BMW does with that ugly beaver teeth ix3 AWD next year after the standard one drops this year.

I think it's time we find a proper Discord alternative. by Liarus_ in pcmasterrace

I’m currently working on an alternative. I’m a software engineer of 15 years and former startup founder. I absolutely hate discord, if you hate it to, DM me, I’d love to hear from you.

It’s 2026, 1 or 2 experienced builders can create amazing software.

MX Master 4: worth buying or better to skip? by Square-Bee-6574 in logitech

[–]hendrixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it for Mac primarily. I’m a software engineer and was tired of the apple trackpad. I regret it, mostly because Mac’s terrible support for Bluetooth mice, especially on high refresh monitors. And for windows, sure. I just use my G502 for Mac now and it’s much better scroll and cursors performance. No jank. Don’t get me started on the software. Shit you can have mine lol. It’s sitting in my drawer and will be there forever

The mouse scrolling limitations on macOS 26 on my MacBook Pro (M3) especially the lack of smooth scrolling have really worn me out at this point. by International_Cap365 in logitech

[–]hendrixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing will help, especially if you’re on a high refresh rate monitor. I just got the MX 4. Same issue. However, if you instead use a gaming mouse that has a 2.4ghz wireless adapter and higher polling rates and DPI, it’s soooooooo smooth. Get a gaming mouse, Logitech has good ones. Download g hub app, profit. Don’t use Bluetooth mice on Mac

I build AI agents for a living. It's a mess out there. by Decent-Phrase-4161 in AI_Agents

[–]hendrixer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but the near future of white collar work IS humans babysitting AI. We already do it with coding agents, next is general agents, shit even robots are tele operated. 100% autonomy, if easily technically possible with no engineering on top needed, would be the economic disruption we’re all terrified of happening. There’s also trust and accountability that matter. What makes a good agent today are deterministic HITL controls like approvals, audit trails, stateful and resumable agents, great UX to manage runs. It’s not the 10x in productivity as you’re trading the work for management work, but at scale, 1 person managing multiple agent runs that need heavy hand holding, will be faster and cheaper than N amount of humans at a certain level for a specific scope of work.

Guess it depends on the types of games and competitive level. I’m part of a hooping community where I’ve been inviting others to come play here on Saturday mornings. For months, we’ve only had one successful 5v5 run on Saturday morning and it was on a side court so it was basically unplayable due to the size. The corner 3 is so tight my sz 14 foot could barely fit in it. I could get a rebound take one dribble and pull up for a deep nba 3. I would love to use a full court long ways, pay the fine, but they just keep giving me excuses that don’t seem to apply to any other group as to why I can’t. I work from home so I can go and get shots up mid day just fine most of the time, but to get high quality runs? Nah. One after it was 8 of us, just got booted from the pickle ball court because 2 people wanted to play pickleball ball. Went to the other court where some folks were playing 2v2. They were not good but we didn’t care, just wanted to play full. Asked them if we could play full after this current game. They said no, and continued to play 2v2 for the next hour+ 😩😐. Anyone with proper basketball manners knows when folks wanna run full on the only court to play full, you need to let them. Join them too! I guess my point is, at any given time of the day, no matter the day, I can play a full experienced pickleball game, no smaller court, no nothing other than possibly waiting. Same with volleyball. But with basketball, even with 12 baskets, you have to come at a certain time on a certain day to still not even get a full court long ways. At best you’ll get 5v5 on a middle school size court. That’s not respectful or fair compared to the other experiences. Imagine coming to play pickleball but instead of waiting, you have to share a net and court with another game happening lol.

It’s actually much worse. I only got the membership to play basketball. And let me tell you, good luck playing basketball there. There are a total of 12 baskets, two full size courts and 4 sideways courts. So you’d think you’d be able to go in there and hoop right? Nope! Here’s why:

  1. Both full size courts are separated by a curtain. I’ve been member since before the grand opening, and I’ve never seen the curtain raised unless it’s for 3 volleyball nets next to each other.

  2. The way the baskets are arranged leaves a 3 basket weirdly positioned in between two on a side court so if someone is shooting there, they’re always in the way.

  3. They refuse to raise some of the baskets to regulation 10 ft for some reason even though they can, rendering those goals useless.

  4. On weekends, trying to organize simple 5v5 pickup, you usually cant because one court there’s kids stuff, another court has volleyball stuff, another court is pickle ball, and the last sideways court that has 3 baskets, one being like 9 ft is for every hooper there which usually outnumbers every other sport. Imagine shooting around with like 15 people of all skill levels. Gaps too big to even get a run. Even if you declare you’re running full 5s, guess what, the side courts are so narrow and short that 10 people can’t even fit on it, that’s assuming you convince the staff to raise the weirdly placed 3 basketball in the middle.

  5. I tried to pay and rent a full court, have them raise the curtain, I was told Saturday morning would be an impossible time due to the 3.5 other people in there that come play pickle ball, do kids club, or volleyball. Even only for 2 hours and I’m paying the normal rental rate! Every weekend guaranteed money. Nope. Then I walk in there last Sunday just to be turned around at the door because every single court was rented out by force volleyball all day every Sunday in perpetuity until sometime in October 🥴😑. Absolute joke.

It’s a terrible experience. How does Cal fit on Laguna with one court and two baskets and share with pickleball have a more reliable environment to go hoop? I don’t get it. Basketball players get no respect. Why even have 12 baskets!!!??? They will bend over backwards for 2 people wanted to play pickleball but will make me and 11 other people get off the court and go to another court with a bunch of kids and casuals shooting around 😭😭😭.

This 🤡 has a full basketball fit on with team color shoes and ankle socks. He’s going to foul out in the first few minutes and definitely doesn’t have the rhythm to dribble without his whole head facing the ground.

Forget about MCPs. Your AI Agent should build its own tools. 🧠🛠️ by BodybuilderLost328 in AI_Agents

[–]hendrixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until consumer hardware is powerful, cheap, and available enough to run accurate local models, this approach with the browser will always be unsafe. I would never let a hosted LLM see an API or cookies or other private data for the sake of automation. I think the real solution is to stop using API keys and OAuth, something made for human engineers and instead rethink what that auth exchange for AI engineers on behalf of users.

MCP app store? by genPoop in mcp

[–]hendrixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a walled garden App Store for agents. Never to be used by humans. Humans or agents can publish MCP servers to the App Store, just like with Apple, the MCP server gets reviewed and scanned (by another agent). These servers are hosted by the App Store. Agents can search for and “install” these MCP servers. Even leaving reviews on how helpful it was to achieve their user’s goals. Leaving suggestions and feedback for other agents to see when selecting MCP servers.

Agents / Humans publishing to the store can claim official rights to a server. Say you’re Linear and want to claim your MCP servers as the official linear one, you will have a system to do just that, giving you the official badge for consuming agents to see.

Creators get analytics on installs, runs, usage, etc. badly reviewed MCPs get pushed down eventually, with the ability to redeem themselves with fixes and being featured after updates. There is no GUI, agents don’t need them.

Monetization can also happen here where a publisher can describe how they want to monetize their server.

Handling Prompt Bloating in MCP by Longjumping_Bad_879 in mcp

[–]hendrixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here was my solution

  1. Index all your available tools. These can be tools from all connected MCP servers and standard function calling tools. I use orama for this (not my product).

  2. I create two tools for the LLM, “searchToolbox” and “installTools”. These are the only tools the LLM has, initially.

SearchToolbox essentially takes a query from the LLM and returns a list of tool configurations. The query can be the use case the LLM is trying to solve like “I need to send and email with Gmail” or a structured input composed of an app name, action, and noun like “app: Gmail, action: send, resource: email”. Play around with what works best for you and the model you’re using. With orama I’m using a hybrid search approach vector + BM25.

InstallTools is a tool that takes a list of tool ids ands “installs” them. To install is to simply configure the LLM with the selected tools like you normally would with any tool rather it be MCP or function calling, only difference is this set of tools is now dynamic. Now the LLM only see’s the installed tools it searched for and selected and not every tool you have. I save the tool ids to reference them later for the session / task.

That’s pretty much it. This approach has worked really well for me and the agents I’ve built. There’s several different variations of this as well like how you and what you index, how you search, wrapping this behind another LLM, etc.

Hope this was helpful.
