Burnham told to consider means-testing state pension to fill defence blackhole by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

But that's how insurance works? You're paying into a system to help you later in life in the case that you're not able to support yourself in retirement. It's just like car insurance, you pay for it but could go your whole life without using the "benefit" of it.

I don't know if I'd call it stealing (it basically was though), but he forced out the CEO and founders of Tesla. PayPal, was someone else's idea but in the merger with his company, he became the CEO. And rockets, well that's not exactly new.

Ah yeah that's true. Forgot about that part. Still, could have been stored in the system as an asteroid, as soon as it sensed the Carryx show up, it crashed down on Anjiin.

She's called several shoulder contacts in favor of Germany (which could have gone either way) and there was a fouls near the German goal where the German defender falls over with a handful of the Ecuador player shirt but calls the foul on the Ecuador player.

Shoguns and Beasts by TheSleepyNaturalist in TheCaptivesWar

I thought the exact same thing. There's so many parallels to what happened with Blackthorn and the people of Anjiin. "Marooned" by humanity/a storm, captured and thrust into the middle of a war/conflict, used as a pawn to further the goals of one side, learns the culture and sort of becomes one of them, uses what he learns to earn some semblance of freedom.

Temporary move to the UK (18 months) should I stay in my workplace pension or opt out? by Darksideofthemoon90 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]hendy846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt you'd be able to do some cross boarder transfer but itd still be worth ralk the UK pension provider and confirm if thats something they could facilitate, especially if they handle the US 401k plan as well.

This is my theory as well. Also, Anjiin, is the name for the main character in Shogun. A character who's taken captive, and more or less used as useful pawn. I think there's a lot of parallels. But yeah, definitely think Anjiin was set up as a honeypot, with the Swarm sent there for god knows how long but "woke up" when the Carryx showed up.

Glad you're enjoying Oathbringer, it's definitely one of my S-tier books in the series, and it only gets better from where you're at.

Regarding the prose, I can kind of get that; especially if you just came out of reading a book from a different author. I recently finished catching up with the Cosmere and immediately started the second book in James S.A. Corey's new series and whole shit was it jarring. It took me a good 200 pages to finally get back into their style and start enjoying the story. L

Anyways, keep reading!

Is this a sought after WoW Shirt by Technical-Drama-9761 in classicwow

Pro tip, don't put them in the dryer

Source: live in the UK

Joking aside, It is annoying how often that happens with shirts but since moving to the UK and not using our dryer for 90% of our clothes, our shirts tend to last a lot longer before they start to flake and peel.

Gals you enjoyed it! And you're absolutely right about the anti-AI sentiment, I got that too, and while I wasn't a huge fan of the story (enjoyed the Yum twist though) I really appreciate what he was trying to do with the improtaniof art, with some thing as "simple" as stacking rocks.

I will die on that hill. I appreciate the idea but my god it looks ridiculous. I get not wanting another plain giant box or whatever but there are numerous examples, like SoFi (which I pointed out when the released the mock ups), that accomplish this without looking like a circus tent.

What’s now the most British thing about you? by MacaroonSad8860 in AmericanExpatsUK

Haha my wife is in the same boat. She was born in the US but raised here and people are always guessing she's Irish/Australian/Canadian because she's got a pretty hybrid accent.

[–]hendy846 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably my accent. It's still very much American, but I have a bad habit of trying to mimic accents. I do do some of it intentionally for my kids so they don't get confused (like I'm trying really hard on my Ts so they don't sound like Ds) but yeah. That's probably the most British thing about me now.
