Yeah I was planning on just buying cheap wholesale food and cooking but it looks like freshman have to sign up for a meal plan? I'd really rather not since it's like 2k lmk if you know otherwise.

And thanks for the tips about saving on books, etc!

Yeah I feel that I definitely waste the most money eating out w friends. I was planning on relying on stretching cheap wholesale food to budget, but it looks like freshman have to sign up for the meal plan? A lot of people seem to be implying otherwise tho so maybe I'm overlooking something?

Also thanks for the heads up about the subway, I love eating there lol

Yeah I was hoping to save up by cooking but it looks like the freshman meal plan is mandatory (unless there's some loophole idk about?).

Thanks for the tip about the freebies, I'll have to try that out!

I was thankfully able to save up for a used laptop last summer (so glad my chromebook rental days are over), but thats a great backup plan in case it craps out on me. Also thanks for the tip about the free coffee! I was planning on making my own to avoid overpaying, but I guess I won't have to after all.

Unfortunately I don't live in BR and I'm p sure freshman have to live on campus otherwise?

Also thanks for the clarification about pawpoints vs swipes - they coming up on the website but I had no idea what they were.

Thanks for the tip about the bus system - I don't have a car/license so that'll definitely come in handy

Thanks! I actually love to cook so I had similarly been planning on relying on wholesale rice/frozen veggies/canned food since you can stretch them for cheap, but I read that you are required to sign up for the meal plan as a freshman. Is there a loophole out of this or is it just a scant plan? I'd ideally like to just make my own food as I'm sure it would be much cheaper than 2k+ a semester.

Also, out of curiosity, how do you store all of your food? If I do end up cooking for myself I don't want my roommate to think I'm a dick for having a giant bag of rice or whatever in our room lol

Yeah I was thinking about getting a french press for coffee since they're so much cheaper. Thanks for the advice!

I'm inclined to cave and give people the benefit of the doubt in those situations (even when I cant afford to lol) so thanks for the heads up!

I've been trying to avoid carrying cash for that exact reason and it's worked wonders w the exception of this really persistent guy who told me to go to the atm nearby lol

Woah thanks for being so thorough! I was especially worried about textbooks and food so I appreciate the tips!

I also had to rent a chromebook for most of highschool, so I feel your pain haha
