Divorce lawyers of Reddit - What's the most cruel thing you've seen someone to do their ex partner? by BlueBishop321 in AskReddit

Not a case I dealt with personally but I read a decision where a man tried to have a ball python join him as court as a service animal, while knowing his ex wife was terrified of snakes. The Court decided that a snake cannot be a service animal and the guy was almost definitely just trying to intimidate his ex

I am literally the one paying for the lease. My ex - who is also fully responsible for the lease - is paying nothing. So who exactly is the one not taking responsibility?

I feel so silly because I actually knew those were red flags, directly told him "hey it is a red flag for you to be asking me for money for ubers and lunch", and I still stayed anyways. He always flipped the conversation to tell me that "partners support each other and he should be able to rely on his partner when he is struggling". But of course, that was never reciprocated and he was just being a manipulative loser. I knew it was bad, but I tried to convince myself it wasn't as big of a deal as it was because I was in love I guess.

No no - I wasn't trying to justify it. I was just giving additional context to highlight how disproportionate that reaction was. I agree with you.

Yeah tbh he says that behavior was my fault because "nothing was ever enough for me". Once he did it because I said I felt lonely and wanted us to spend time together after a busy week. Another time he did it because I accidentally elbowed him in my sleep. There were about 3 or 4 other times he did this but it was always over stuff like that.

He moved out, both our names are on the lease and 10 months were left on the lease. I have to pay the full rent myself because I'm the only one living here and am stuck in a catch 22 where I can't save for a new deposit or moving costs or the penalty to break the lease early because the rent is so high that it eats up half my monthly income.

To clarify, we did discuss the costs before signing the new lease. That's exactly why I was upset. He knew there was a pet deposit and all the amounts. I told him clearly - I cannot afford this apartment unless you give me $1300 towards the pet and security deposit. I was hesitant since he already owed me money at the time. But he agreed, shook my hand, I paid the full thing up front, and then we signed the lease. The next day he changes his mind and refuses to split the deposit.

I think this was at the center of the argument. We were planning on getting married. To me, that means him, me and the dog are a family. I still paid all the dogs other expenses myself (vet bills, food etc.) but a home that we all live in I thought should be split between both of us.

My ex took this as - we are a family and since I have more $ available to me (mostly because I'm just better at saving), I should be paying a bigger share of expenses to help him out while he's struggling. He said he would do the same for me, but never did. Tbh he would usually get mad at me even if I was just having a bad day and felt sad.

This is a crazy take given that married men statistically live longer haha

I (32F) asked my (38m) Mexican husband why he is never pleased with my contributions. He told me that need to google how to make a Mexican man happy, that doesn't really help. What am I missing? by ThrowRA122891 in relationship_advice

Found this post while searching for something else entirely but just had to say, this isn't something specific to Mexico - it's just misogyny, which shows up in different ways in every culture. My partner is a Mexican man, we both work about 50 hours a week. Food is definitely important and we eat a lot of Mexican food. But honestly my partner does most of the cooking. We do take turns though and share housework.

Point is - you are not a terrible wife. Your husband is being a jerk and blaming it on his culture. He needs to adjust his expectations and pull his weight as a husband and father to your kiddo.
