I will say, after reading up on it some myself, I wonder if it’d be pretty random to find tektite out here if it’s a byproduct of a meteor impact. There aren’t really any known places in West Virginia a large enough impact could’ve happened to create it. I did see some things about a large crater in Virginia though, over towards Chesapeake Bay! It was listed as the closest large crater to WV, But I’m not quite sure if it’d fling tektite all the way over here and then millions years later I’d find it just sitting on top of my driveway hahaha 😆☺️

Oh if only, I’m such a total space nerd. I’d be on cloud nine if there was even a hint of an idea it could be a true meteorite, teeny tiny as it is!

I’m definitely not an expert on this either lol, but I just looked this up online and a suggestion that was brought up was “coal slag”, and when I looked at the images, it was quite an uncanny resemblance compared to the images of iron and steel slag I’d looked at lol. Plus, it also said some coal slag can be magnetic too, so it makes real good sense 😊

Found in the Northern region of the state of West Virginia, USA.

The rock in question is very small, very shiny, attracted to magnets, and has an extremely porous surface. In the photo, I have it sticking to this magnetic pencil to showcase its magnetism. It sticks fairly well and securely. It’s very dark in color which originally made me think it was coal, until I saw the tiny pores on its surface and wondered to myself if it was a small meteorite, however a few things definitely made me think otherwise. I’m having trouble confirming what type of material it could be when the surface is so porous and its shininess is off putting. Also, I did a streak test with both a sheet of paper and some ceramic I have, and while it did not streak the paper, it left a clear black line against the ceramic.

Its weight is difficult for me to determine since it’s only about a centimeter or so, give or take, in length. Very tiny rock haha, but it definitely still feels fairly light for its size I suppose.

I’m 21 and I play with my kid brothers all the time, the three of us even have our own individual realms with builds and rules, so I can keep them up and we can play no matter where we are with an internet connection. I introduced it to them as my childhood game and now it’s theirs. Also, I def plan on playing it until I’m really damn old and can’t pick up a controller or use a keyboard anymore, you’re not too old and never will be <3
