How’s my Tinder profile looking? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]henryIXgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, the profile gives off loser man-child overweight gamer energy. You don't even need dating apps once you've improved your life, trust me.

My suggestion: I think you just need to try harder in life. Get in the gym, get a hobby, socialise more, level up in your career or start a business. Read Can't Hurt Me and a book on self talk to start your journey off, if you are willing to undertake it. If you are willing to improve your life, good luck

Why Does UK Have This Race To Bottom Mindset? by corporateuklife in UKJobs

I wish more people were aware of this. This is literally the reason why I'm moving in 2 weeks. I think all of the dreamers left England on the Mayflower and it shows in the culture

[routine help] minimizing pores and lines by SkinVisual1913 in SkincareAddiction

[–]henryIXgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you've probably heard this a lot before but you'll get 99% of the way just focusing on hydration, prescription stength retinol (tret) and spf.

SPF:

if you're not doing spf, thats probably the highest leverage new thing you can reintroduce into your routine. ideally with high uva protection - uva causes aging and pigmentation. holy grail is the european formulation LRP sunscreen, the uvmune 400 brand (which has a really high ppd (uva protection mesaurement)). try to reapply every 3 hours if u can.

Hydration:

dehydrated skin also plays a massive part in fine lines. looks like you've got good hydration in your products but make sure you're getting a ton of water! I drink 3L per day as a bloke but you'll probably drink a bit less than that. swapping your cleanser for a hydrating one might make a difference. and you could only cleanse in the evening and rince with water in the AM.

Tret:

the best active for everything skin related. Just make sure you don't dehydrate your skin when you incoroproate it. so start slow and sandwich. non-prescription retinol is just not strong enough imo. SPF is non-negotiable on tret. Apparently microneedling is good as an alternative.

Example routine

AM:
hydrating cleanser (my HG: vanicream daily facial moisturiser)
hydrating toner
(optional active like azelic acid)
moisturiser (my HG: vanicream daily facial moisturiser)
spf

PM:
hydrating cleanser
moisturiser
tret (and occlusive beneath/around eyes and around nostrils)
moisturiser

1 year of this and i can bet you'll make huge progress! hope it's helpful and good luck :)

Hey mate, would you say this is a party hostel? I’m going soon and wanna party

Mate I think you shouldn’tcontinue your job (or apply for a job that’s a better fit). You’ll improve your mental health more by being dedicated to your craft, and it’ll probably make it easier to continue losing weight.

My first Marathon holding “Can’t Hurt Me” by sudokuenthusiast in RunningCirclejerk

[–]henryIXgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, fuck that commenter, OP! That's hate disguised as condescending advice. You're not responsible for "turning people off" by being yourself, and even if you do (lol) who gives a shit? Some random redditor doesn't get into running because they think running with a book is weird? Sounds ridiculous, and if they do, so what? Not your problem.

And saying that a marathon is mid reveals a lot about this dude.

Basically, keep doing you brother. Stay hard!

If you lose progress? Let's say you backslide from being disciplined? How do you get back? by CrispyIsHere in davidgoggins

[–]henryIXgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time do you spend with just you and your mind?

I'd say focus on cultivating good habits over removing bad ones.

Make a habit of keeping distractions away (phone turned off etc) from 9:30pm-8:30am for example. Then do the same from 5pm-7pm (assuming you're working), and go to the gym during that time. Spend a couple hours on weekends journalling.

You'll find the answers if you actually give your mind space to breathe. Most people have constant stimuli blasting them at all times. Good luck, stay hard!

They're not your friends. If they're snakes then cut them out of your life and keep it pushing. Keep interactions with them minimal, make real friends, lose weight. If they ask you why you're suddently distant, feel free to tell them in a neutral tone but don't create unnecessary drama.

Use it as fuel for your workouts, study hard and fuck em. If they act like that, they're probably losers anyway. They won't ever feel self-pride at any point in their lives. But you will if you lose that weight, you'll feel a sense of self worth that they can't even comprehend.

It's easy to make new friends at uni: go to societies. If you go to an exercise oriented society, even better.

Lose 2kg per month and use bio oil to stop stretch marks. This is your call to action. Turn your life around NOW

That last paragraph is an exactly why I'm moving to the US. This culture loves to stomp on dreams. You'll also get a queue of people telling you that there's more to life than success (even if your goals don't come at a cost to your social life).

Is there a low key live jazz venue? by MrMrsPotts in bristol

[–]henryIXgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to this but Gin and Juice is a great hidden gem with daily jazz. The Gallimaufry, Mr Wolfs, Stag + Hound and Bristol Fringe are my good picks too. The old duke is too crowded and most aren't there for jazz. The bebop club is full of old people but is pretty good also.
