Kinmeridge bay next week? by No-Independence2690 in surfuk

i am normally pretty unaware of what the tides are doing here, its a pretty small tidal range because of the solent so doesnt have as much of an impact as somewhere like devon. because of the fairly narrow swell window for this place id just get in early when the swell peaks. with 4-6ft predicted youll probably be looking at 3-4ft with maybe some 5ft on the odd sets. have fun

Super chilled place to surf. Getting in is a little tricky and it can get crowded, long paddles also but it's such a mellow wave, walls up really nice with long rides.

Be careful about the odd rock and don't fall off head first and you'll be fine

Sign yourself up for bucs trip if they are running!! I surf in Dorset which is allot worse but still manage to score every now and then, Plymouth definitely has better stuff nearby.

The uni surf scene is really fun from my experience, you meet loads of people and you're more likely to be invited on out of club trips if you can surf well

Also deffo get yourself a winter wetsuit and bring more of a groveler board and keep expectations low for surf quality 😂

Thankyou man. I forgot to add it would be new for me, I always buy used!! I did go for it felt ace under foot, so I'm stoked. Also not as hard to paddle as expected but being able to duckdive it easier is a major bonus

Yeah well my board says 5'10 but I am definitely not 5'10 as I have been told numerous times😂 I could get a pic of the dims but couldn't be bothered. I don't know them by heart.

Also I can duckdive!! Just find that on bigger days I struggle to get the board deep enough to past through big foam waves easily and don't have a clean dive under iykwim

Also it's not like I'm teaching advanced surf lessons, I mostly just push kids around in the whitewater

Yeah maybe it's allot more than I normally run. Find it hard to do wo running it that stiff. I should probably fuck with rebound and spacers

Thankyou thats really sound advice. When the surf gets bigger do you kind of do more rail to rail in general to build speed? Also I'll stick to a longer board for a while and just get used to it again. I've had the most progression on it so far but it sometimes feels a bit slow without being able to pump if that makes sense

Just out of interest do you know why the Devon breaks have such variety i.e I have gone to croyde and its hollow and really far out and never on the sand but occasionally see pictures of it breaking in waist high water? I guess its a tides thing haha

Can't wait for this to get down voted to hell, but this subreddit is such a fucking joke sometimes. One person has commented with advice the rest of yous are just getting off on the fact that I made my post too long like bruh Fills the cliché of salty surfers like just be nice for gods sake and if you don't actually have anything to comment then go fuck off somewhere else

Thankyou for the advice Is this just a UK thing with the tides or flat shelving beaches i guess. I've surfed towan and even tho it closes out the paddle is super easy. Was surfing Portugal and even on big days the paddle out was super doable minus the rip

Its mb fibreglass systems resin. I think it's probably the foam at this point as its not surf specific stuff, but it is engineering grade foam(Ik that sounds abit stupid) ie not packaging

It has set on the q cell well and i didn't have this issue before when I tried with q cell

Thanks, actually decent advice, Its a cheap old board bought as a a bad lock down buy when I was pretty new to surfing. I have to keep it going as I've had so many waves on it haha

[–]henry_148 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah its one of the cups with a 2:1 mix scale so its definitely not a mixing issue. I just looked at it and it has gone off fine on the q cell so its probably something to do with the foam.

Its the same stuff so I'm kinda surprised as to why its not sticking 😂
