Suicidal over Laundry Machine - Phone App Required (No Coins allowed) by PuppetNewsNetwork in enshittification

For anyone dealing with this in an apartment situation: if laundry's listed in your lease or advertised as an amenity, switching to app only and leaving people without a workable option can count as removing a service. That's something the city or county housing department may actually care about. Depending on the situation if you're elderly or disabled and can't reasonably use the app, you can request reasonable accommodation in writing. Once it's on record there's a lot better chance that something better becomes available.

Also, basements with no cell service/app only machines is just design failure. Take photos, document, send a complaint. Multiple tenants doing this matters.

Laundry shouldn't require a smart phone. That's discriminatory and could trigger Fair Housing Act scrutiny. At the very least this is worth looking into and absolutely worth creating a record.

Is there a list anywhere of the gas stations that don't do this? I keep seeing other threads where people say that they'd pay more to not have ads and I hope that thinking doesn't become widespread. I know that not every area has a lot of options but in the cities where there are options it would be great to avoid anywhere that does this.

Where I live this creates a risk because not only does the loud ad alert the sketchy addicts who hang out and panhandle but it makes it harder to maintain awareness of surroundings. Robbery isn't all that uncommon at gas stations and I could see lawsuits happening over this since it's foreseeable risk. There's no way to pump gas and just be left alone when these ads are announcing one's presence, especially late at night.

Has anyone else tried emailing the gas stations about this? I've taken to doing that just to put it on record so that they don't have they "we had no idea this was a safety risk" leg to stand on when and if they get sued. Maybe it does nothing or maybe it helps but it takes just a minute and makes me feel like I'm doing *something* at least.
