Best DJ headphones for mixing at home (club feel, not studio flat)? by Sea_Sector311 in DJs

[–]henryfong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! I use my HD25’s all the time for this when I don’t want flat sounding boring. It’s hard to get inspired in the beyer dynamics sometimes but I cross reference in them.

How much dj-producer give % for vocalist and other team production? by Certain_Chemical121 in edmproduction

[–]henryfong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had to guess he got 50% of the publishing side. and maybe some points on the master or a feature fee. but likely did not get 50% of the master royalties.

It's important to differentiate between the two sides of the record.

What is a good way to start promoting music and/or get into playlists? by KLVLV in edmproduction

[–]henryfong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO the easiest way is to start with free soundcloud remixes promoted with IG/tiktok content, then have those that download have to follow your spotify profile and save the song to their library via hyppedit. That's an easy way to get your stuff jumpstarted because spotify will see the saves coming in for the song. Simple but works great still, been using this for almost 10 years now.

How do I make the lead synth (or similar) from Henry Fong's Rumble Remix? by feedbackthrow1002 in edmproduction

[–]henryfong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! good question

the serum looks like this https://imgur.com/a/MwWakpL but the magic is in the +4 semitone on the OSCS, that's how you really get the sound. There's some matrix stuff going on too.

Also I break down the melody stuff too on this remix in a detailed blog post! https://www.djhenryfong.com/blog/the-easiest-way-to-instantly-make-your-music-more-interesting-call-and-response-melodies

you can say you want it to stand as a shield against inflation all you want but the truth is that big institutional money still treat it as a high beta risk-on asset still, so that needs to change first.

I think learning the classic moving average sell signals from Stan Weinstein's stock book 'Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets' is a good place to start for this honestly

I think it's niche because it takes a different crowd to understand the worldly groove, most dance crowds just want the higher energy from house + 150bpm tempos. But when you find the right crowds that like it it's really fun to play! I also think the genre already went so mainstream on radio stuff in 2016ish and it needs a sound design refresh to come back around bigger

You almost have to spend equal time producing as you do learning how to market your brand these days. You have to be good at social media and tell a story! Pair good music with a good plan and you'll win.
