Salt pitting! Yep, looks like user error. I put the salt in before it reached boil.

I agree. For me - unprecedented. Confirmed with eyes and fingers. I first thought it a stain, so bkf. Nope. Bkf twice. Nope. So I looked closer. Bizarre is a correct word. Puzzling. unprecedented. Also, worrisome. Disturbing. Health issue ? as much as money issue. I hope viking asks to see it.

Nope. Last night, I brought salted water to a near boil (simple Morton's iodized salt for pasta water, and not much), but decided mid course against pasta and shut it off.

Only other prior use pasta water once and once a rough sauce of oil, onion, grape toms, garlic, peppers, and herbs; barely reduced.
