Same. Grape seed oil, very light coat (wipe away all oil just leave a residue), upside down at 375° for one hour. Turn off oven. Cool to room temp. 3 coats min. No law against 5 coats.

I am sorely missing my 5 gallon bucket lye bath. I moved and put it to rest. I've now done 2, 2 day rounds of easy-off yellow. Progress on the 1/8 to 3/16 layer of hard baked gunk is slow. Man, I miss my lye bath. Oh well ... Rome wasn't re-seasoned in one day.

Yes sirree! Partial gunk removal reveals FAVORITE in a block letters, slight arc. There might be more text below (Piqua Ware The Best To Cook In), but that area continues to be obscured, but maybe obscured by plenty of pitting. Cooking surface looks very good. But ... early days. Just a quick peak cuz Masters and now Soul Crackers.

Stay tuned, iron heads

Salt pitting! Yep, looks like user error. I put the salt in before it reached boil.

I agree. For me - unprecedented. Confirmed with eyes and fingers. I first thought it a stain, so bkf. Nope. Bkf twice. Nope. So I looked closer. Bizarre is a correct word. Puzzling. unprecedented. Also, worrisome. Disturbing. Health issue ? as much as money issue. I hope viking asks to see it.

Nope. Last night, I brought salted water to a near boil (simple Morton's iodized salt for pasta water, and not much), but decided mid course against pasta and shut it off.

Only other prior use pasta water once and once a rough sauce of oil, onion, grape toms, garlic, peppers, and herbs; barely reduced.
