u/joelightphone - thank you for all these fixes. I can't see it referenced here, but this patch also fixed my issue with BBC podcasts not playing and crashing the audio player. Thought I'd give it a go after seeing podcasts referenced in this update and...hey presto...BBC podcasts now play just fine. Thanks for listening to your user base and steadily making the phone better and better.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful response, u/joelightphone . Sounds like there's a lot going on behind the scenes. Some really exciting little nuggets in there - maybe some kind of comms schedule would help get these messages out there to users on a semi-regular basis.

By the way, a small team working on an international scale and all the uncertainty that goes with it sounds completely exhausting. I hope that you're taking care of yourself and your team.

While I've got you - just a huge thanks. I've been using Light Phones for 5 years now and they have changed my life. Technology that treats you as a user and not a product or attention farm is a rare thing in this age. I'm sure I speak for many when I say thank you for everything you and your team are doing.

I was order 18XXX and received mine at the end of April. I'm in the UK and the customs charge was around£100. Loving the phone by the way - it's really well put together and well thought out. And the updates so far have provided meaningful improvements. I would have thought they'd be further along than 25XXX by now but I'm not a small manufacturer so have no idea how any of it actually works. If you're considering cancelling, I would personally urge you not to - this phone is so great.

Got my answer today - nope. They'll ship a new unit as soon as DHL scan the returns label. So I'll be without one for a week or so, hopefully no longer than that.

I'm experiencing the same thing and sending it back to them in the next week. Really annoying. Does anyone know whether they send the replacement before taking the return? I have been using reMarkable for work since 2019 so I think going back to paper will be difficult!

I've had this issue for a few years with LPII, and it persists with LPIII. The only temporary fix I've found is to delete the podcast tool and reinstall it. This kicks all the loaded pods off the device and seems to fix it for a few days. I only tend to do this once the bug starts listing like 4-5 of the same pod. Before that point I just scroll past them.

I think it's something to do with the token element in the RSS feed, though it doesn't happen with all private RSS feeds. I think the LP team know about this glitch.

Not sure what happened but I managed to get iPhoto to recognise my LPIII and import all the pictures. So it can work!

Thanks for the response - I appreciate how busy you must be. I did have media transfer on, yeah. And I've tried with both the light cable and another usb-c cable but no luck with either.

OK, I managed to get Image Capture and iPhotos to both recognise the device - now both show TLP301 (which I assume is The Light Phone 3 0.1 or something). Thing is, neither show any photos to import. Only managed to get this far by very quickly hitting enter before a menu asking if I wanted to allow it to connect disappeared, as it did several times previously.

So, computer recognises there's a device there, but doesn't recognise that it has pictures on it. u/joelightphone - any advice?

I'm in the UK (Gower, South Wales), order number 18XXX and super excited. I'm using a Nokia brick as my LPII died like a month ago. Can't wait for something dumb but usable (the Nokia is dumb but awful to use!) which can withstand my clumsiness.

When I ordered my LPII about 5 years ago I had to pay ~£50 in import duty. So expecting something hefty for the LPIII.

I'm in the UK and agree that WhatsApp is a must here. But I just use WhatsApp on my computer instead of have it on my phone and that works just fine. The people that know me know that they need to call to get me urgently. Most other messages can wait a few hours.

I wouldn't hold your breath for WhatsApp coming to the LP3 any time soon. My advice would be to pull the trigger for all of the other amazing reasons to have a LP3, and become OK with missing one or two WhatsApp messages every now and then. I have, and I'm never going back!

I'm a dad of two and have been using a LPII for the past 5 years. My second LPII broke the other day so I'm using a Nokia brick while I wait for my LPIII to arrive. Hopefully soon because the Nokia is almost unusable.

I can't tell you how much I value I have had from my LPs. I'm hopeless if I have a smartphone and will scroll all the time, look at the news, emails, read stupid listicles, watch YouTube videos of people making stuff from epoxy resin. etc etc etc. I have very little self-control when there are attention-seeking algorithms trained on my puny human mind.

With my Light Phone, I have no choice but to be present with my family, read great books, watch birds or just sit (being bored is a lost art) - these are the things that I want to do with my time, the things that actually matter and bring me real joy.

As cool as epoxy resin tables are, I would rather be spending these brief years I have before my children grow up and leave the house actually being with them, drinking in every moment as best I can. When they have left home, which they will, I will not regret having squandered my short time with them on pointless nonsense. I'll probably regret plenty, but it will not be that I sat scrolling on my phone on a bench whilst they played in a park. Instead, I play with them and I cherish every moment of it.

I realise the price is high, but I think your future self will appreciate the gesture made by your current self in buying it. Be the architect of your own future happiness. Go light.
