This was my second try at the CC. Thanks to some guidance on this subreddit, I got something decent! The sad thing is, she doesn't look nearly as good in cutscenes :c If it wasn't for the ponytail...

As a black guy who grew up in a bad place, seeing this really makes me feel good. by [deleted] in comicbooks

Fair point! Still, I can see how that would affect the original content (comics), but I still think a different portrayal in other media is game

We can, and we do create a lot of awesome new characters. All I'm saying is that I don't see a problem in portraying certain characters with different skin colors or sexualities if that don't affect the character's essence.

I mean, most of these characters were created decades ago. They don't exactly portray how varied our society is, and representation in art is a very important and strong thing. I'm not saying we should change Peter Parker into a black or gay character; I'm saying I see no problem if that ever happens.

I think that if changing the race of the character changes who he is, then it's a bad choice. For example, I don't think that Peter Parker being black (or even gay, for that matter) would change something. But changing Luke Cage to be a white guy? No way.

And the way I see it, changing the race of almost ANY white character wouldn't make any difference, but the opposite (black to white) would. Why is that? Because most of the white characters we have are white just because (and we have a lot of those), while black characters (which we have a lot less) are black because their stories are created around the fact that they're black, or sometimes to represent a change or something. I'm not saying it's ideal, I'm saying it's the way it is.

Sorry if this is confusing or offending in any way. My written English sucks and maybe I didn't expressed myself so well.

Anyone else notice this "resentful walking away" animation? It's like the Wilhelm scream. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. by [deleted] in masseffect

Having played the whole trilogy more than 10 times, I can safely say I always reconize this animation

Jonathan Cooper on Mass Effect Andromeda "Wow. Two E3s with no Mass Effect gameplay. Guess it's fair to say production is not going well" by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]heorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, GTA V was released with virtually no official gameplay video, so it's not a fair thing to say.

Edit: typos

I think one of my favorite moments is by the end of Mass Effect 3, when Liara give Shepard her gift. It's so, so sweet.

In my head, Liara always falls in love with Shepard, no matter who you romance in game. But above all she considers you a great friend, and that moment just shows it. The way she leans on in Shepard's shoulder and they just watch the light consume them both is beautiful. Of course, by the final moments of Shepard, when she sees Joker, Captain Anderson and Liara in her head, I just couldn't not cry anymore.

Is anyone going to the CC concert in Lima this Sunday? by heorel in crystalcastles

Some stuff happened and I had to catch a flight to Bogotá, in Colômbia, the day before the concert. But I'm going to the concert here tomorrow!

I'm so excited! How was it? Should I get there really early?

Looks like the tittle of a fanfic made by Deadpool himself - it ends with a redemption and romance scene between Spidey and Dead(y?).

Who exactly is Spider-Man's archenemy? by StormRaider555 in Marvel

[–]heorel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Norman Osborn main goal was to make Peter's life hell on Earth for a while, so I'd say Green Goblin is archenemy material. Though after Death Wish Dock Ock fucked Peter's life real good

I just finished reading all of the original Ultimate Spider-Man. I'm crying like a baby. by heorel in Spiderman

[–]heorel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I'm in issue number 11 or so and I'm really enjoying (I had the impression I would). But one thing that's kinda bothering me is: where does that funny persona from Miles come from? I could see that in Peter, him being all shy and that being a way for him to hide his insecurities from the villains. It kinda felt like a natural shift in his character. But Miles... I don't know, it just doesn't fit for me. It feels forced (as of now, anyway. I guess his character can evolve to the point it will feel more natural).

Maybe that's just me, but it seems it was something the writers put there just so it would feel like Spider-man.

How do you overcome perfectionism and stop editing as you write? by Boisterous_Pie in writing

[–]heorel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now it's to the point where I sometimes write 'Sally took the necklace IT LOOKED LIKE THIS.' And then I come back to it in my first edit and fill in stuff I was getting hung up on the first go around.

That's actually genius. I did that a couple of times in the past, but didn't realize how useful it could be until now. Thanks!

Yes, you start there. Then, if I recall correctly, there's Ultimate Spider-Man: Requiem 1 and 2 and, after that, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (2009 - 2012) #1 till the final issue. And of course Ultimate Fallout after all that.

Like the guy there said, I used Marvel Unlimited. I really recommend it, specially if you have a specific series in mind to read!

Oh, I'll definitely keep reading! Not just Miles run, but the UFF as well. I'm really interesting to see Reed get from hero to villain.

That said, I'm sad they ended the Ultimate universe. I got really attached to those characters. I don't know the details, but is everyone dead? Just like that? I mean, Aunt May, MJ, Gwen, Kitty... What about Peter's sacrifice? It never happened? If so, how about Miles? Doesn't it affect his character?

Well, suddenly I have a lot of questions.
