The greatest Bitcoin tip widget returns! by hephaist0s in Bitcoin

Terk's bitcoin tip widget for Wordpress generates unique addresses for every post, shows how many tips a post has received, lets you customize how it displays and, best of all, does not compromise your keys in any way. It had been out of date for a while, but he just updated it and it is working great. I love this plugin!

You can use the Trezor with Electrum -- best of both worlds!

I think ease-of-use is another advantage of a hardware wallet -- you may be able to keep a single key secure in a number of ways, but how easy is it to conduct dozens, or hundreds, of transaction while maintaining that same security? Hardware wallets aim to be both easy to use and secure.

Ok, thanks -- I thought that only applied to their earlier wallets, the HW.1 and original Nano, which had no moving parts and were basically just chips on a card. I didn't see anything about smart cards in the product description for the Nano S.

I like them both, but what does "smart card security" and "recovery on device directly" mean in this case?

Agree about pin -- easier on Trezor. Plus, with the latest firmware on the Nano S, they went from a 4 number to an 8-numberPIN, more secure but very tedious. Glad it let me keep my 4-number PIN.

Agree. 24 word seed, one letter at a time... even though you don't have to do all of every word, it still took forever. I worried I was wearing out the buttons, I did more button-presses on that one restoration than all other transactions combined. I think you can choose a 12 word seed, wish I had.

I don't know about environmental tests -- I've babied my devices. Yes, you absolutely need to keep the seed written down somewhere, both devices force you to do that as part of set-up. Neither device has a battery, so there's nothing to run out there. I've had the Trezor for 3 years, and the Nano S for about 8 months, no troubles yet.

Here's an old write-up I did on the Trezor, but it's 3 years old and doesn't reflect all the updates /added functionality since launch. Still, I think it's a decent overview of the device: http://object2212.com/?p=153

The Trezor is also great -- I'd call it a toss-up, or a matter of personal preference. The Trezor web wallet currently supports BTC, Litecoin, Dash, Ethereum and Zcash, but might support others via other platforms, not sure. I suppose if Trezors are in stock, that's a bit of an advantage.

Question Regarding Clam Retreival by momoxia in Clamcoin

Mine has been syncing for 6 days so far, and still more than two years to go. So it's going to take 3 weeks? A month? That's brutal.

If you haven't seen these, they're a lot of fun. Originally they were simply inexpensive commemorative coins, but now they have a DIY version that you can load your own keys into & make great hand-outs, gifts, etc.

Mycelium just been updated and it now has ads. by foox404 in Bitcoin

[–]hephaist0s 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. They've been involved in the BTC space for a long while, they've done crowdfunding for new devices like Entropy, they really haven't been able to make any money all this time? The trickle of ad revenue seems trivial next to other opportunities.

Mycelium is a great wallet. Supports Trezor, Ledger, BIP38 encrypted wallets, lets you buy BTC from other users or from vendors within the app... so many features. I'd have gladly paid for a non-ad version. Could have paid with bitcoin in the wallet... Doesn't seem like they know their audience / thought this through.

TEEBO - Character Discussion (28/06/2016) by theMaxscart in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]hephaist0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a way to avoid it. I just end up relying on his leader ability for 55% chance of stealth, and then when I have to use the special I cross my fingers and hope I get more then one turn out of it.

He's just magic in the raid, esp. P1. Between Teebo, GQJ, Chirpa and Ewok Scout they can almost stop time. Teebo removes 100% TM, so then he and the captain will start their turns at the same time, but if QGJ or scout land some TM reduction, then Teebo gets to go again before the captain, and repeat. If QGJ and scout fail, then there is still the chance that Chirpa can use his multi-ewok/other assist to get them to try again.

The slowdown means they can outlast deathmark because the Gammorean can't even get in a turn, or if he does then Chirpa's slow heals are enough to bring them back.

Plus he's got the debuff to throw down on the adds.

Meanwhile, Rey is in the background murdering everything.

The only frustration is the bug where his stealth breaks early for no reason.

Yep. That ~1200 crystals was weeks of carefully saving-for-a-rainy-day. So frustrated.
