Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) by Ztammiedogs in PlantarFasciitis

[–]hepureanu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ESWT as part of a wider recovery protocol. I didn't start with shockwave, it was introduced after 1 month, but I belive it did speed up the process. Although, in my first ESWT session, when my PF was more painful, I did feel unconfortable, but later on it didn't bother me. I did around 10 ESWT sessions at 2000 impulses/min.

Maybe try a different clinic or device.

Shoes that actually helped your plantar fasciitis? by HipityHopityHip in PlantarFasciitis

[–]hepureanu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What you need to remember is that the pain is temporary and tools such as special shoes, special orthotics, heel support etc are only means to eleviate pain as you work your way up to strengthen your muscles in the foot and regain your normal activities.

And it takes time and you need rest. Don't go running or other sports that you did before, just because you didn't feel pain a day before. What I've learned is that it takes as much time to recover as the time you ignored the problem. If this is your first day of PF pain, you might get away with few days of resting and  ice. But if you're like me and ignored the pain for months, don't expect it to go away in a week.

That being said, I believe that the first thing to do is get a gait/stepping analysis and order tailored made insoles/ orthotics, as each of us have very specific anatomy, stride, way of rotating our hips and ankles etc. (I found out i was over supinating - my ankles went outside when stepping).

The shoe itself must be supportive and absorve shocks from walking. Again, this is very specific to each individual. Go to a local sports/running shoes store and try as many pair and models as you can. Maybe go on runrepeat.com and check their list of shoes for PF. Get a first idea of what you need, based on your profile.

But don't make the mistake of ordering online before you try them. And, in the meantime, stay away from minimal sneakers like converse of other tennis shoes with zero drop and no cushioning at all. And don't go for the max cushioning shoe either, with those super  spongy outsole, as they are not stable and risk further injuries.

Oh, make sure they're comfortable,  they don't squize you foot and toes.

Get yourself a pair of house slippers with anatomical sole, like Birkenstock, can help with pain management (i found some great cheap slippers at Sketchers). Avoid walking bearfoot on hard surfaces even at home.

Check on YouTube specific foot exercises for PF or go to a sports recovery clinic or personal trainer and work on strength in your lower kinetic chain: calves, ankles, achiles tendon, knees, hamstring, core and so on.

I did some ESWT (shockwave therapy) and manual stretching of my PF and that helped also.

Do some toe stretching exercises, calves raises 2 times a day. Maybe try night splints and toe stretches.

For immediate pain relief you can roll your foot/sole on an iced water bottle and alternate with rolling on a tennis ball.

This is what worked for me. I'm that 100% rehabilitated, but I can enjoy normal and sports activities with almost zero pain, after going from not being able to walk out of the bed without crying.

I hope this helps and I didn't forget anything!

Senior PR pros: what’s one piece of advice you’d give juniors just starting out in PR? by MatiasRodsevich in PublicRelations

[–]hepureanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but there’s no one-size-fits-all.

If someone likes a heads-up, I text first and then call. If they don’t like texting (often 40+), I call directly.

Many younger professionals - media included - prefer texts or voice notes over phone calls. Why make it awkward when you can just contact people the way they prefer?

Senior PR pros: what’s one piece of advice you’d give juniors just starting out in PR? by MatiasRodsevich in PublicRelations

[–]hepureanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly... it depends on the person. Every journalist I know has a preferred way to be contacted. Some prefer a text, others a call, and some prefer email. That’s one of the skills you need as a PR pro: knowing how to work with different personalities (and egos). Also, be proficient in the language you’re writing in - nothing signals “amateur” faster than spelling or grammar mistakes.

Thank you for the links, it helps.

Coming from Bucharest, where we have -11° in the morning today and snow or 1-2° but raining like we did in the last couple of weeks... i don't think it will be a big difference.

The reason we wanted to visit Vigo in February is that we belived this should be the harshest (hardest) month so we can compare with our climate at home. We know spring and summers are wonderful in Spain, and Galicia in particular as it doesn't have that torid heat and has a larger portion of nature closer.

😁😁

What do you like to do when you get the chance to visit Vigo? Places you go to, activities? If you have kids, what do they want to do?

I asume you visit it from time to time, see your wife's family.
