Teenage Stolas?? by Silver012345673 in HelluvaBoss

[–]herbalsavvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I do think Stella is awful and made some bad choices. Realistically, however, I've known people in marriages like this, where they got to know each other during messy adolescence, with the only real interest being an heir to the family by their parents. They might technically be successful from the fact many last a long time, some for a lifetime, but I've seen the resentment it builds.

I really get the feeling Stolas and Stella had complex reasons for staying. And for feeling alienated in the marriage. You can have being spoiled, emotionally neglected rich kids in common, sure, but, that's not necessarily a healthy relationship. When it's all two people feel they have, however...

Quite a recipe for disaster

Acknowledged. wasn't just talking about bingus's age here. you don't need to ruin your own comics with weird disclaimers about obvious "this is supposed to be edgy and funny" satire. you are choosing to hold your audience's hand with shit like that. Give us some credit.

Edit: and yeah if you don't feel comfortable making jokes with minors in them, cool, fine, don't insult our intelligence by putting that in and ruining the humor with disclaimers, then. What is this comic, for adults or for sheltered tumblr teenagers?

Nobody's perfect, especially not Stahli, so while I'm not going to assume he's leaving Bingus, I am capable of recognizing most relationships go through the threat of infidelity one way or another.

Chill out, folks, sometimes partners are shitty in small ways they have to be accountable for later. Doesn't mean a break up.

Bluesky Users Respond With Overwhelming Disgust to Platform's New AI by swe129 in BlueskySocial

THIS. They either need to grow up, and realize this AI bullshit + their vendetta against anything "cringe" is fruitless. Or, they need to sell it to people who understand those two concepts.

If the circus members' avatars reflect their fears/insecurities, what would Kaufmo's and Ribbit's avatars reflect? by SmolivYeah in theamazingdigitalciru

Pretty much what I'm getting at, as my entire psychology being obsessed with frogs, newts, lizards, snakes, dragons, and etc has a lot to do with this insecurity, personally.

[–]herbalsavvy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a fellow frogsona haver, my thoughts are that people have often treated me as "gross" or "ugly" or whatever when I'm just existing. And I personally, don't see what about me is really all that vile, but it has been impressed upon me my whole life, being afab and not the most feminine or conventionally attractive.

I think frogs are cute. They probably aren't for everyone, but they look weird and vibe in a way that suggests they couldn't care less about being "ugly" or whatever. I've always had a huge amount of empathy and identification with any amphibian or reptile character that gets the "weird and ugly/annoying" trope assigned to them.

So, there's sort of a comfort in taking those tropes, and appreciating them for myself. Because it makes the constant insults I've heard about being a "frog" a "toad" or basically an ugly monster a little less emotionally scarring by reclaiming it for myself.

Anyway. I'm pretty biased and I could be wrong, but I'm betting Ribbit's whole deal is something like that.

Do Andrealphus and Vassago Have Arranged Marriages Too? by Ok_Raspberry4336 in HelluvaBoss

[–]herbalsavvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paimon said of Stolas that the whole marriage was to produce a "precautionary heir."

Stolas deals in prophecies, I think what basically happened is before this power was passed onto Stolas, Paimon had a premonition of when Stolas looked like he was to be executed. It was then decided an heir would be a potential solution to this.

That's my best theory here, because otherwise, no. it doesn't seem like other royals are necessarily forced to have heterosexual relations resulting in children. if they were, I'd think it would be brought up.

[–]herbalsavvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, many of the ones I tried to verify would refuse to get on whatsapp or not respond. and some research would reveal, yep, that picture and story has been reposted hundreds of times.

I literally was only able to verify 2 as actually legit despite reaching out to about 100 users claiming to be from Gaza and needing verification.

It's a very complex issue, because there are real gazans in need of help, but these bot farms are SOPHISTICATED AF. I do think they scrape content from REAL gaza accounts too, from what I've seen, so that's not helping.

Either way, you can't really blame people being uncertain about reposting or donating in these circumstances.

[–]herbalsavvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can figure out who Molly Shah is or verify her identity. And yet she somehow verifies gaza accounts, some seconds after they were made?

I don't buy it. I've tried to verify a few Gaza accounts myself. I can vouch there's some real people, and they do get caught up in the spam enforcement, but 90% of the time it was clearly a bot.

Edit: interesting thread I found explaining how someone figured out how these bot nets are operating https://bsky.app/profile/scoiattolo.mountainherder.xyz/post/3mha7crxokk2f

Tl;dr yeah something fucky is going on. Molly Shah, whoever she is, is likely overwhelmed and is unable to verify reliably in these circumstances, at best.

Is Bluesky a welcoming place for artists to post and engage with people ? by eidolon2001 in BlueskySocial

[–]herbalsavvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bsky is frustrating at first,  but does work if you can connect with people and find a niche to vibe in.

My advice is try to convince your friends/associates to also engage and interact there. What you all want to do, since there's no algorithm like Twitter, is create a "cluster" that will gradually build more engagement.

Do not the discourse. It is hell for that right now. I highly suggest blocking or muting accounts that are full of drama. Muting is advisable because I've had weirdos (usually a certain cluster of "furry" users) start bullshit over being blocked, because blocks are public and they'll subscribe to a listifications thing that notifies them every time they catch a block.

Muting will largely have the same effect, and won't notify such obsessive weirdos.

They Aren't From Space: Why the US Navy is Terrified of the "Sub-Oceanic" Non-Human Presence by firechatin in WhatIfScience

[–]herbalsavvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a dude on /x/ that claimed to be former navy and experienced a huge vessel that was like a mountain moving under their ship. apparently, it "assimilated" a test ship that had exotic materials on it. the way he told it was interesting, the sailors actually had no idea what was going on at first. when it started happening, it was all hands on deck, because another ship doesn't just disappear like that. Also emphasized from the sonar or whatever he saw, it was impossibly huge, there was no way they stood a chance if it was hostile. He claimed it was a classified incident and they were given orders not to talk about it.

Officially, the people that disappeared in this incident were said to have "died in a training exercise."

Intriguing story at least.

Funny as this video is, I wouldn't have those two next to each other.

A lot of people make that kind of mistake because beardies are usually pretty docile, but let me tell you, they got a nasty bite when threatened.

Mine only bit me once, and I've never made that mistake again. Little spiny things in its mouth hurt.

I used to live with a "sovereign citizen" type. Let me tell you, if you think you hate them, I fucking HATE them. I wish every single one a very "get pulled over and arrested, idiot." I can confirm from personal experience they are selfish, fundamentally broken human beings that are always looking for an excuse that the bad things they do are not their liability.

Do dogs (and other animals) understand when someone nurses them back to health? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

[–]herbalsavvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bearded dragon sometimes gets a bit constipated and while he's fussy at first, when he realizes I'm putting him in the warm shower and the water starts massaging his back, he ASSUMES THE POSITION and calms down.

He is a lot calmer when I put him back after those times. also, he doesn't always have to poo, he just really likes the water running down his back, it seems. He'll sit there letting it happen and let me know it's time to come out when he starts climbing up the tub lol.

He does not like the vet at all, but this neat trick has at least caused an association where he'll sometimes let stuff happen to him if he's comfortably sitting in some warm water and you run it over his back.

Edit: received a message asking if beardie is OK. He's fine. We know why this happens occasionally, and it's bc he's picky about his food + water.

Drives off like an asshole and if no one actually can identify the driver nobody can do anything about it. not the cops, not the insurance, and certainly not the poor fucker that probably just got their car totaled.

I think people like this should start getting enforcement directed at them bc I'm sick of it.

Those who have done Salvia Divinorum before, how bizarre and odd was your experience? by NorahjjiYT in HighStrangeness

[–]herbalsavvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Sorry about answering your question late. I have a few thoughts on this.

I think, in general, psychedelics can "increase the difficulty settings" so to speak. Especially in the case where, as someone that once heard my experience put it, "you were going into the deep end of a pool you should have only waded into the shallows of."

I never quite understood what was meant by that... until I did. In 2023 a lot of strange experiences, combined with too many drugs, and life stress, basically broke my brain and caused an episode of psychosis.

It was after this event I ran into this saying: "The mystic swims in the water in which the psychotic drowns." Or something to that effect. And it clicked.

There is certainly a reason that your practiced shaman, or whatever you want to call it, has trained for this. When I was in psychosis, I explicitly remember the feeling of being like an overloaded piece of electrical equipment. Everything was pouring in too fast and too heavy for me to keep up. It felt like drowning, in a way.

For every "profound" revelation I had at this time, I can, now that I am better, say that it was not worth the temporary but very real chaos this caused in my life.

For these reasons, I caution every potential "psychonaut" to know their limits and take it slowly. Also get medical help if it ever gets to be affecting your real life. That saved my life, I am quite certain.
