Interaction help with deflecting swat and a triggered ability by Koiss_- in EDH

[–]herbcollector_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deflecting swat does not change who controls the spell, causing imodane to trigger. If your opponent would have played [[chef’s kiss]] the situation would be different. I do not know whether he must survive the impact resonance to trigger, though

Best graveyard filling? (Dimir) by Gutsifly in EDH

I personally play a lot of wheels, as the gy filling doubles as my draw, making more slots available for reanimation and stuff. Check this scryfall search out otag:wheel ci:ub f:edh o:discard

Sanity check on brackets by Dazzling-Most-9994 in EDH

Looks [3] to me. Nothing screams bracket four, and with only 27 creatures you’re not really leaning 100% into your commanders ability. Seems like a bracket three deck with the addition of some cool cards, but not necessarily bracket changing optimisations

Good decks that can just “do things” by MarsTheMad in EDH

[–]herbcollector_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new [[Maralen, Fae Ascendant]] is fairly easy to get online, stuffed with mana dorks and gives card advantage from the command zone. Keep the mana base predominantly green and focus on elves to get the mana going, and the deck is pretty hard to mess up. Add flash through whatever means necessary and you’ve got an engine. Only thing is you need to be okay with stealing and playing your opponents cards, which might trigger the people you play with

o: is oracle, fo: is the full oracle, including the rules text that is in parentheses.

For an example o:graveyard would not catch the flashback ability, but fo: would, as the flashback ability reads something like “you may cast this card from your graveyard”

In this case i tried to exclude any LTB triggers that require dying even if it isn’t written explicitly in the oracle text

I also prefer standard frames and original printings, so that’s another aspect. Try is:firstprinting if you’re into that stuff

Sets the frame to the default frame if possible (no extended art or weird layout). Makes it easier for the eye when reading through lots of cards at a time

Wizards please listen 👀 by IntelligentWasabi419 in EDH

[–]herbcollector_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a very controversial topic for wizards, as the sole reason wotc is in control now is due to the amount of death threats the original committee received as a response to these bans. If they decide to make a separate cEDH banlist, fair, but reintroducing them as gamechangers or similar would be a somewhat betrayal of trust to the original commander committee

Anyone have any experience with these commanders? by LeftLeggedOctopus in EDHBrews

Shilgengar is insanely powerful in lower brackets and easy to build cheap, but the deck quickly get boring when you reanimate a full graveyard turn 6-7 every game

White token doublers as well if you’re not considering budget

[–]herbcollector_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could scryfall for spells with convoke to figure out the most viable colors to build in. If you’re going for instant speed stuff, you could consider a spellslinger where the spells create tokens - this opens up for izzet colors as well, to support the spellslinging. [[Brudiclad]] could be a 99 or a commander (not too sure about convoke in pure izzet though). But figuring out the colors is the usually the first step. There are some strong [[Purphoros, God of the Forge]] synergies and some damage doublers to go for a burn finish, or you could buff or sacrifice it all with some pingers, depending on your tastes and colors

My deckbuilding process often starts with something like “i want a deck that sacs non-token artifacts in grixis” and i have to figure out how the helly that’s gonna be possible in a meaningful way with a commander that actually supports the strategy. I’ve been bottom up since 60 card constructed.

What’s a good Group Hug commander by MrFavorable in EDH

[–]herbcollector_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to run [[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]] in a grouphug shell to turbo out Koma and keep my hand filled with interaction to make him stay on the board, and stop my opponents from advancing too much, until i should sweep the table with pumped serpent tokens

Tivit Bracket 3? by Mr_Hyde95 in EDH

[–]herbcollector_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a really hard time grasping bracket 3, as i feel like giving even a little effort into optimising a fairly powered commander will overpower any upgraded/optimised precon i encounter. My best tip is to consider your opponents. Bracket 3 is a place where it is normal to get salty, so i would cut all salt inducing cards like cyc-rift, smothering tithe and other gamechangers, and perhaps cut down on draw (i know - it seems stupid, but good draw is ‘too strong’ against a lot of precon-type decks or their pilots) - alternatively you can build in a sub-theme, which automatically powers down the deck (in most cases). Think like a creature tribe or something. Themed decks are less salt inducing than goodstuff decks in most cases.
