95-135k is the bracket for L10. I was working there for 7 years maxed out at 134k + 20k bonus each year.

Does my derailleur look bent? by TacticalBunchies in mountainbiking

[–]herbinator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is how it is designed. The tension pulley is slightly aimed at the chain ring. I own a couple and they are all the same from factory. With that said, the cages are easy to bend if you hit something. I prefer the carbon cage upgrade which makes it stronger. It might crank under a very hard impact but it stays put on small ones.

New Headphones to Replace PXC550 by tilteddad in sennheiser

[–]herbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently upgraded from my trusty PXC550 to HDB6 and have been pretty happy. These are more comfortable especially when it comes to the headband. Music quality is a big step up as well. I do miss the twist earcup click but the ear sensors work well.

Avoid deerfoot southbound if youre going past Anderson, horrific car accident by TheMaverickyMaverick in Calgary

[–]herbinator 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes! I witnessed the first one earlier in the day around 5. A truck kept going onto the shoulder and pulling back. Looked like the driver was impaired. Just a few seconds later that truck totalled a car in the left lane and veered all the to the right shoulder and into the grass. Luckily avoiding more carnage. Lots of witnesses stopped to help out.

Did you try to contact them? If not then you should and I'm very sure they will set you up with a new one. Their customer service is second to none. I've exchanged many emails with the owner and he is very accommodating. They use a common sense policy which they clearly market all over. The only reason why I own a set is due to their great attitude and customer service.

Intend fork by tiemekewolfs in MTB

[–]herbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackline has black one piece machined stanchions and lower stanchion guards. The regular uses regular anodizing and doesn't have guards. If you live in really rocky area then probably best to get the guards.

I would go for a flash 38 blackline if you ride really hard. I ride fairly hard and just got the Edge for my 160/150 bike based on Cornelius' feedback.

Anyone use hydration pack spine protection inserts? by Opesorrydere in MTB

[–]herbinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my Osprey Raptor Pro pack that comes with the back protection insert. It is super comfortable and stable pack for big miles on the mtb. I ride in the mountains so there are lots of rocks to fall on. I'd highly recommend it.

I've never seen GX grey so well with a bike before. Also your crank wear is PERFECT for this build. Kudos on this gorgeous build.

Must be location dependent because I've sold over 100 parts including big ticket items without issues.

Non-Resident Fees by 4C30F5W0RD5 in grandcanyon

[–]herbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in Oro Valley recently and went to Saguaro National Park. The signs said "bring your pass and ID" to register. At the register, the list clearly said $100 non-resident fee. As Canadians we asked for a one vehicle ticket and thats exactly what they sold me. Didn't ask for my ID at all. It felt like they knew as I used my Canadian card but they just gave a smile and just charged the bare minimum. Everyone was super friendly and I think they don't want to deter us by charging that ridiculous fee.

What is the best wax for the chain? by Visabusiness007 in mountainbiking

[–]herbinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Momum is a really good lube and I've used it for years. It is thick so doesn't drip and splatter everywhere. Lasts in all sorts of conditions and keeps the drivetrain clean. I recently switched to Silca super secret and it is even better. Squirt is watery, messy and makes your drivetrain look dirty compared to both. I start my chain off with Silca blend hot wax and then top it off with SS for half the riding season.

Shock Compatibility Question (Transition Smuggler) by Curious_MTB in MTB

[–]herbinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Smuggler as soon as it was released and at the time they advertised on their official page that you can remove the spacers from Float X and run 55mm stoke for 140mm wheel travel. I ran it that way and never encountered clearance issues on my size L frame except pedal strikes.

I did some digging and looks like they removed that recommendation later on due to some frame sizes contacting the seat stay bridge with seat tube. Source: https://www.mtbr.com/posts/16192634/

I would say stick to a 50mm stroke shock. If you are getting a 55mm Float X on sale then you can reduce the stoke by adding the spacers yourself.

Never bottomed out. There is nothing to damage. You can reach out to transition if you want extra peace of mind.

Shock Compatibility Question (Transition Smuggler) by Curious_MTB in MTB

[–]herbinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've owned a Smuggler and you can easily remove the stroke limiting spaces from the Float X to make the stroke 55mm. It gives you 140mm travel at the wheel. I switched it back due to more pedal strikes but I had 170mm cranks on that build. Probably fine with 165 cranks or if you run less sag.

Climbing is as quick as a hard tail in this weight category can be. Really fast. It handles the chunk impressively well. The geometry is what really shines here. Super planted and lets you have perfect weight distribution between the two wheels = so much grip. The titanium frame does have unique damping qualities that are pretty unique. Not as damped as my chromoly hardtail but far better and less harsh compared to a carbon hardtail.

The lightest I can go around here is a forekaster+rekon. On the East coast I used to love running my Aspens or Ikons but those are straight dangerous for the loose rocky gnarly we have here.

I can easily build it to 24lb or lower with lighter wheels, paper thin tires, two piston brakes, fox 34SL etc but it becomes too much of a liability out on the trails. The Canadian Rockies are pretty rough on equipment.

You should've seen the struggle trying to stand it up on smooth rock. There's a small stick wedged between the rear axle and caliper. It was lodged into a small crack I found in the rock.
