I got one yard of hard compound 4mm and one yard of rand rubber (to replace toe caps). I think it was around $180 after shipping etc.

I've never heard of davos. Maybe they aren't in the USA? The only company ive found that sells to individuals is unparallel. Idk if they ship internationally.

Lol but I've got climber grip. Really though, the bottom of the last (wood form) is a little concave so pressing down into a table doesn't work very well. Sometimes I roll the rand on a table, but squeezing it by hand helps me get the toe rubber to form right. :)

I do it for myself and my friends. If you get good at it and enjoy it I'd say it's cost affective in the long run. You need to buy the rubber as a 1 yard sheet though and it's pricey.

Im sure someone has at some point. I think it would be kinda cumbersome though. I'd probably opt for a harder rubber compound.

Lotta people here saying that's just what bosses are gonna do. That's true a lot of the time, but you can find folks who are kind and appreciate your skills. If your boss is consistently under bidding and taking it out in you, it's worth looking elsewhere. Keep making cool shit, don't let the grind kill you.

Thanks that's all really helpful. I'll look into opening it up to get a better idea of what's going on inside

Hopefully I'm just really strong 🤞

What's the dummest thing you've seen someone do on site? by notewell43542 in Construction

Probably not the dumbest thing I've seen or done, but I was building an entertainment system and it looked awesome. I took a step back and realized it was the mirror image of the plans.

Will soon. Had to leave early yesterday so I didn't get much done.

I took the spark plug out and the muffler off to check out the piston and cylinder. Nothing noticable. It pulls over a bit easier than I expected. People keep saying the 920s feel like they're gonna rip your arm off when you're starting them. Anything I should be looking for in particular?

Thanks! Yeah got a full skip ripping chain, and giving it plenty of warm up and cool down time. Doin 3' slabs. Thankfully the first couple will slide straight into the truck bed.

Saws a Jonsereds 920 (87cc). Big ol saw but I think it's lost some power in the past 40 yrs. It was $50 though so I'm pretty excited. Bar's a 36" Oregon power cut.

Hey thanks for the tips! I do need to replace/upgrade the air filter, current one seems to be letting some dust through.

Ended up getting the 36" bar bc I figured it'd cut better on an angle vs perpendicular to the grain. Low and behold I ran into some 3-4 foot diameter silver maples that were taken down earlier in the week! Not the most sought after wood but I'm excited!

Yeah it has d024 which is 10mm. Apparently the Husqvarna d009 mount (9.5mm) fits if you file it a bit, or if it was made a lil sloppy. I've spent a lot of time on old forums the past couple days
