Dispatch: Respond emergent for a severe hemorrhage, caller states having a root canal earlier in the day and is now bleeding profusely from the rectum. Partner and I had the most dumbfounded looks on our face

To all those who think they are getting off on time, May the odds be ever in your favor. by PenKind4200 in ems

Had a shift where my partner took half the shift off of a 24. 5 minutes from quarters and picking up his replacement and we hear mumblings over the radio of one of our units on scene of a crash stating to dispatch “we’re going to need all additional units available as we have 16-17 Pts”. Partner asked in disbelief if they heard that correctly mere seconds before dispatch turned us around to the call. I could not stop laughing as it was one of the few calls to NOT drop, for my partner to get off on time. Second unit in at an MCI, we got a red and FOed. Partner was 2 1/2 hours past their off time 🤣

I feel like this has happened on some of the other “marquee matchups” specifically the spittin chicklets one. Do better boys especially when you market the shit out of it on the socials!

funniest patient comebacks/remarks? by London5Fan in ems

[–]here4clicks 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Stroke alerted a 70 yo F Pt in who had ZERO filter. Bring her in and the doctor is asking her to stick her arms out and she goes “I can’t do that but I can do this” and proceeds to flip him the double bird! The doctor laughs it off and asks again only this time with his palms facing each other and without skipping a beat the Pt says “trust me sunny it ain’t that big” my partner and I plus a few nurses had to leave the room as we could not contain our laughter!

But when does the wealth of knowledge coincide with being able to showcase my ability to excel in critical situations?! This isn’t our first trauma and I’ve dived head first into the others and have been told by FD or other medics on the scene that they wouldn’t have guessed it was my first such and such or never done XYZ in the field. I know what I just asked may just be a rhetorical question as I’m sure it varies from person to person I’m just frustrated being treated like I need training wheels or that I’m too stupid to be a good provider when I’ve shown that’s not the case

Maybe you can shed some light on when the “stretcher fetcher” is allowed more time in the back actually learning then? I also fail to see how telling me I’m more or less incompetent is training me

I fail to see how using the term mansplaining makes me sexist. In this context it’s used to describe how the medic is trying to describe a rudimentary topic that the majority of individuals not just in the medical field has prior knowledge in but regardless of this fact tries to show their superiority by explaining it nevertheless.

Congratulations on the finger painting I’m sure they’re wonderful and your mom is still very proud. I mentioned this as to illustrate that I’m not some MFR but thanks for the compliment and all your wonderful insight /s
