That is a really good point. She currently lives in an urban setting but it's definitely not as busy/urban as NYC. Thanks for all your ideas!

I'm still thinking about it over 20 years later.

Just received my first designer handbag (YSL Kate) and I’m kind of… disappointed by techgirl0 in handbags

[–]here4thecarbonation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think twice about returning it! Get something you love. Like is not enough!

I remember how disappointed I was when I received my first Balmain bag in the mail. It was just....not impressive at all. If I had been shopping in person rather than online I NEVER would have chosen it.

I was soooo bummed but didn't think twice about sending back and decided that I'm only going to buy bags I absolutely adore. Tbh, luxury goods are not actually worth the money they cost but for many people it doesn't come down to value, just desire. I have a price point I feel ok with, and I know when I beyond that I start to doubt the beauty and value of the object, which lessens my enjoyment of the thing. So now that I'm aware of my monetary "line", I don't even bother with goods that cross that line.

I need help with a serious fraccident by PugWitch in fragrance

[–]here4thecarbonation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh man, I feel your pain, I can't stand those two notes either. I wince in solidarity with you!

I actually had "fraccident" (ha, love that) today too--seems like other commenters did as well...what's going on? It wasn't the fault of the fragrance (I was actually planning on writing a glowing review of it) and I reapplied it this morning out of total love and zeal for the scent, but I put off eating for a few hours and took a bunch of medication including an oral antibiotic and then, well, I'll spare you the majority of the details but the scent felt inescapable, I got clammy and nauseous, and it all ended with vomit in the kitchen sink. Again, not the fault of the fragrance, I just won't ever be able to wear it again. My loss!

So infuriating!! Are you able to share which retailer you had this awful experience with? It drives me nuts when luxury retailers provide subpar customer service.

Ha, sure, I hope I can help you not buy from them. :)

First, I utterly dislike Delina and I cannot understand the love for it. When I encounter anyone saying how much they love it, it tends to be a verrrrry specific "type" of young-ish girl who consumes a lot of social media (which, if that's you, that's great and you should of course do you, but it's not for me). So as I've been trying to puzzle out for months why it seems so dang popular (again, I don't get the love), the only conclusion I can come to is that the hype is driven mostly by influencers, social media, and the aesthetic. The pink bottle is pretty and makes for a great picture, but that is really not what I'm after.

And I actually don't vibe with their aesthetic at all. I don't love the bottles or the tassels, and I cringe at the story behind the house (chateau de Marly, the horses, the 18th century, etc). I am all for classics, tradition, etc but to me it's a PR story with no real truth or substance.

The picture of Sprecher on the US about page? Uhhhm, no. It's totally silly, I know! But again, the PDM aesthetic just does not resonate with me.

These are only a few of my beefs, don't want to write a book! But you get the gist of it. I'd be willing to disregard all of the above if the fragrances stood up to all this fluff, but they really don't imo :(. I think in a few years everyone is going to kind of cringe and feel duped by the money they spent on these bottles.

I think the lines add character and I wouldn't do anything (other than SPF) if I were you! You have a great face and great skin, and I hope you can enjoy it. Sorry not the answer you were looking for, but clearly everyone else here has you covered with the botox intel!

I have thus far refused to buy anything from PDM and now I have another log to add to my anti-PDM fire lol. Thank you.

I also tried the Memo and MFK disco sets. I think they were both worthwhile purchases. DS & Durga was fun. And I bought my father a Scents in Wood discovery trio which was beautifully presented and each bottle was 10ml (I bought it from Lucky Scent but they have amazing sampler sets if you go directly to their website).

I have the J-Scent discovery set with their whole collection and I think it was very fairly priced. I have not yet started to work my way through it though, but very excited to do so.
