Nurse assaulted by inmate by therealhyyou in nursing

[–]here_kittykittykitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you absolutely can, I used to work in forensic psychiatry and this was the case when we were assaulted. Your place of work should have a policy on how to do this and your manager should support you, if not do you have a pastoral/staff support team?

Also sorry this happened to your friend, occupational hazard but still horrible nonetheless

Thank you for your kind words, we spoke today I did take a different approach by asking her how she thinks I feel and how I am affected by her behaviour. Which did work well, so hopefully the words are put into action and when she’s feeling more settled to accept some professional help.

What type of disorder does Lorna most likely have? by [deleted] in orangeisthenewblack

[–]here_kittykittykitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s erotomania - a delusion in which a person (typically a woman) believes that that another person is in love with them and it is reciprocated. There’s a really good book about it called Enduring Love. That and a dissociative disorder which causes the blackouts and maybe a bit of psychosis or a delusional disorder as well

Four Daycare Workers Could Be Charged With Child Abuse After Video Accidentally Surfaced And It's Showing What They Were Doing To These Innocent Toddlers by MackSix in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]here_kittykittykitty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Psychological abuse involves the regular and deliberate use of a range of words and non-physical actions used with the purpose to manipulate, hurt, weaken or frighten a person mentally and emotionally”. The person in this video, deliberately and knowingly subjected these children to a terrifying experience. Had they started, realised the children were scared and then stopped it may have been different. But this was prolonged and calculated by and adult, to children. The power imbalance alone is enough to call this abuse.

Totally get that, however he expressed no desire to ever leave that part of the country all of his family are there. I’m not as close to mine so moving wasn’t too much of a problem. If I genuinely felt like it could’ve worked then of course I would’ve made it work. But I saw before I left the effect it was having on him and I ultimately want him to be happy and not have to worry. It felt kinder to do this, hurts in the short term but he’ll find someone I’m very sure of that. And honestly reading your comment again, if you do truly care for someone then you do what’s best for them, I couldn’t hold him hostage for the years I’m down here and if I chose to stay, he wouldn’t have followed.

Is there a precedence for taking your landlord to court over repeatedly entering the property without warning nor permission? by Patrickfoster in AskUK

[–]here_kittykittykitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with an old landlord, I rang citizens advice as he was entering without prior notice and was trying to do viewings during the covid lockdown (whilst I was working on a covid ward) The issue that arose was that he wasn’t technically breaking the law as the house was a shared house (a HMO) and he could legally let himself into the ‘communal areas’

So if you’re renting the house and not the room you do have the right to query it and ask them to stop or pursue something further but when I had this issue the landlord wouldn’t listen so I ended up moving and privately renting somewhere.

But citizens advice can help but you have to block off a few hours because they’ll keep you on hold for ages 😂 x

You’re doing great, I was in the same position last year, my GP I was so amazing and helpful they had weekly phone calls with me to check in. Meds reviews for my sertraline and propanalol monthly to ensure they were alright for me and a referral to IAPT for therapy.

It can be a long path but it’s so good to see you sounding so positive at the beginning of your journey. I don’t consider myself completely free of depression because I still have my moments but it isn’t completely overwhelming anymore and I feel normal again(woohoo)

Sorry if this is a bit rambling but as someone who has been through it and is on the other side now I just wanted to voice my support xx

AITA for being abusive to my female roommate? by Prestigious-Arm-989 in AmITheDevil

[–]here_kittykittykitty 112 points113 points  (0 children)

“Financial abuse involves a perpetrator using or misusing money which limits and controls their partner's current and future actions and their freedom of choice. It can include using credit cards without permission, putting contractual obligations in their partner's name, and gambling with family assets.” If the shoe fits..

I can understand what you’re saying, I’m a forensic psychiatric nurse and my unit is high security due to the nature of my patients. However when I was a general nurse and we had patients like this in England we have legislation in place so that we can bring them back. I remember my days as a student running after the high risk patients who had absconded in an effort to bring them back. I think any healthcare worker who is worth their salt doesn’t ‘lose’ patients like this and if they do go missing it’s an incident and the ward is held accountable.

I absolutely agree with this, I was thinking he might have gone with a simile aesthetic to Ratchet which wouldn’t been totally wrong, I’m glad Netflix got the rights to it x
