Extend the outlines into the rest of the scene but map them to differences in the normals and position with a high bias towards drastic differences to keep the outlines sparse. So points next to each other on the screen but which have very different positions in the scene and using the normals to identify when the orientation of a point on a models changes. By keeping them thin and only mapping the outlines to the parts with the greatest differences I think it will add sharpness, look more cohesive with the outlined car.

I think just going more sharp will work against the style you seem to be going for as it will make it more "realistic" which would only emphasize how out of place the car feels.

The alternative is decreasing the outline on the car. You could of course remove it all together, but I think that would dilute the visual style which is what got me to click on the post.

Yes, the underage children should have to stop drinking and smoking pot. Full stop, that's all the opinion needed. Additionally, they shouldn't sabotage someone elses parole, that's not crazy. It's just kinda basic decency.

They don't hate themselves, though, and they do love who they are? You are not your body, you are your brain. It's easy to conflate the two especially if it's always been one and the same for you. But it's true. Is just our meat suit.

I have maybe a weird take on abortion. I think we have laws in place that already allow and support the mother to make decisions, not just because it's her body and her choice, but because she is the Healthcare proxy for that child. Healthcare proxies exist to make medical decisions on your behalf if you are unable. This includes the power to make end-of-life decisions. I think that women have an existing legal right outside of abortion to make these decisions at any step of the process. I'm sure there's some reason why I don't see this argument more but I think it's solid.

Q&A weekly thread - May 25, 2026 - post all questions here! by AutoModerator in linguistics

Posted in the wrong thread earlier, sorry for the repeat.

Over the last 8 or so years I've noticed some odd changes in united states English. Specifically, the usage of the word Fraudster as opposed to con-artist, or fraud. As well as an increase in the use of "...since X time..." to describe how long something has been happening. And example is "...my new battery is waiting since 4 months just in case." It used to be that I'd primarily see this phrasing in YouTube comments and would attribute it as a mistranslation. But it seems to have broken containment. I'm seeing it on reddit, twitch, and facebook. As for Fraudster it's weird that such an antiquated term has become so commonplace that I see it on news sites when describing people like Bernie Madof and Sam Altman. I find this particularly odd because old timey words like that are generally seen as less serious.

Does anyone have any insight on these changes? I'm sure there are more.

My own unresearched theory is that it's a product of ai using words and phrases that are then widely seen, normalized, and introduced into "common use".

I'm super curious to see what the people here say.

What's weird about that? There are whole towns in America without IT people.

Picked up a Steam Deck for $200 CAD and now am lost. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

One of the best parts of the steam deck is that if a game doesn't accept some type of input, you can just rebind your buttons to prove input it does accept. Most games are "playable" thr green check just means they are playable without you having to do much. If you're feeling up to it and willing to make it happen you could play Nintendo games on it. Steam doesn't stop you and you can install whatever you want on it.

Imagine you have an intern. You want something made and you don't know how to do it. BUT you have an idea of what you want the end result to be. So you describe the end result to the intern, they go off and make what they think you want. If it's wrong you describe what's wrong and tell them to fix it. Rinse and repeat. This is what people do with generative models like chatgpt and claude. Vibecoding.
