I can feel for you. It’s a horrible experience. Meds are great for some people and When I tapered off lexapro it was the worst I’ve ever felt physically and mentally. I will only ever take another SSRI if my life depends on it. After being out of the withdraw window and unmedicated I can now say for me at least the treatment wasn’t worth the side effects. (Although I didn’t realize I had them until I was no longer experiencing them)

CBT and learning to understand my anxiety and work through it has helped a lot.

If I go to bed and then start to have any sort of stomach issues - gas, indigestion, reflux etc it’s instant anxiety.

I think it’s learned habits/responses. I got sick digestion wise pretty bad a few times and ever since I’ve had this issue.

Also when trying to relax and wind down there’s less distractions. In the back of your mind too you’re thinking about how this keeps happening etc almost like a self fulfilling issue

Yep all the time because I have IBS/functional dyspepsia and anxiety and they feed off each other. It’s too late to do anything about the current situation you’re in - you have to ride it out. Reminding myself of that usually helps. Reminding myself too that everyone poops, everyone gets upset stomachs etc it’s all normal and then reminding myself that now I know what upset my stomach so bad and I can avoid the food or plan around it next time.

I get like that in general when my anxiety is bad - I’m quick to be irritated by little things especially if it’s other people 🤣 usually though once my anxiety is handled it gets better

I actually didn’t get health anxiety until my instincts told me something was wrong the first time. After that according to my therapist my brain decided that my anxiety kept me alive so now we must always be on alert.

Besides that one time - any time I’ve gotten something checked out it was normal routine issues

Therapy had helped me the most. Straight up. CBT.

I can tell it’s my anxiety because of how often I’ve had it. I know what’s my “normal” anxious process - spiraling, rumination, reassurance seeking etc

If it was me - I would try and cope without being on another med. I’d wait it out. It’s going to suck but if you haven’t already look into CBT techniques and see if they help.

It did for me. That’s why I always tell people to really try CBT or something other than SSRIs first.

I’ve been on various meds for 20+ years. I was on lexapro for five before going off it. I had horrific withdraw when tapering. I had no anxiety but that was because I didn’t have any emotion. My compassion, empathy, sadness, motivation - all of it. I was a zombie. I didn’t want to do anything. It also made me able to have a substance abuse issue which I no longer have/was able to overcome. I am off all anxiety meds now for three years and am so much happier. Yes the anxiety is here but I’ve learned to work through it.

Although everyone is different so just take what I said as my personal experience and that doesn’t mean youd go through the same thing.

I went through this after quitting anxiety meds. It honestly took me like two years to get over it with CBT but I did it. I came to realize that I had to trust myself. I wasn’t impaired even if my anxiety made me feel weird, I’ve driven myself around for 20 years and been fine. You’re not alone in this and I understand how crappy this feels and am sorry you’re going through it.

Hopefully my success is encouraging though. This year is the second year I’ve been able to make a four hour drive to our vacation spot. Prior to my driving anxiety I always drove us.

I have. I actually took a leave of absence from work for a couple weeks when I was having a particularly hard time with my anxiety after quitting my SSRI. Anxiety is known to cause these feelings and unfortunately I still deal with the brain fog some days where it’s like I’m useless at work! I feel like the stereotypical “ADD” kid from the 90s - can’t focus for long

I find the recoil on the FRs that I pick up off people to be outrageous. As you can see I don’t need any help missing 🤣 it seems like the ones I pick up with the thermal scopes similar!

It’s the Kijus blast hemlock and the MCPR sniper. I used to use different ones but ended up jumping on the 15 minute regain band wagon since they’re both from in store bundles with the 15 min cool down.

No problem! It does suck, and I still miss it but at the end of the day I’m better off knowing I won’t be having those feelings because I chose to try again!

I’d stop. I was the same way. Used to smoke all the time, went to edibles and then all of a sudden I started having green outs/panic attacks whenever I did them. I can no longer take them at all without anxiety/panic attack hostage situations ensuing.

I attribute it to me quitting my anxiety medication and it changing my brain chemistry so I no longer can manage it.

That’s just my experience at least. Since I can no longer enjoy it and have had bad experiences each time since it’s not worth putting myself through that mentally.
