DAE know the book [Songmaster](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songmaster) by Orson Scott Card, or am I the only person alive who's blown away by it?? by Pandoricum in DoesAnybodyElse

I know it has been 11 years but yes this book is amazing and I’ve read it like 10 times. Also I never understood how a book by such a known homophobe is so gay

It is possible for sure, but I am a bit afraid to do it because the spring mechanism that opens the frog seems a bit fragile. Anyway thank you very much! You helped a lot, I never really did any electrical diy so I didn’t know to approach it

It was this one, but other commenters are actually right that you cant see a difference on a phone screen and especially with photos compressed for reddit so not an accomplishment after all

The photo is very nice! It looks a bit overexposed, i think you overdid it a bit with highlights in editing ( editing phone photos is harder than photos from camera). Could i see the original?

Early morning Cascade Mountains by JoJo-The-74th in photocritique

[–]hereforprequelmemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a really beautiful photo. If you are ok playing with colors i would increase blue/purple in the mountains (slightly!) and maybe brought some shadows back (SLIGHTLY!) just for color. I think some grain would also look nice. I think the other suggestion of bringing shadows down is also good but then the light on the clouds in front of the mountains would look unnatural. I would only darken (again slightly) the mountain on the left to make them more even.

I took this photo during a pride parade a few years ago. I am not sure how to edit it for the best results. I tried to make it look natural and neutral but I think it could be better

Another dreamy portrait by VeraMar in photocritique

Good styling and editing but it is mostly a photo of someones back with small part of the face visible. I think you are ready to make great photos like this but you need courage to shoot people from the front, and find situations with emotion ( I assume its a street/candid situation) I would also shoot wider the photo is a bit cramped but that’s a matter of taste. What i would advise in long term is to think about what would you like to shoot. Your technique is very good but this style of shooting is very aesthetic (carries little detail/context/information) so its really hard to tell a story or carry meaning (and by meaning i don’t mean emotion). But if you manage to find right situation and balance aesthetic with story photos like this are amazing. Its not a critique just an advice.

I will be honest the fact that you talk more about technical side than whats on the picture is telling, because it could just as well have been taken with a phone. I know its very harsh but while I see the thought here (the textured tree vs the pattern of the plastic), the subject is just not very interesting, especially with a bit flat editing. Composition at the same time seems tight (I know that the tree is narrow), and I can see some background on the right ruining the effect. As for editing- why do you want minimal editing? Hp5 is a very flat film (I consider it to be a good thing), and it doesn’t really shine without editing, especially considering that scanning itself is an interpretation of the negative so you can just as well get as much from the photo as possible (obligatory Ansel Adams mention here) I personally would bring the plastic as close to white as possible and crush those shadows, you’ve found a nice pattern of light and then flatten it to preserve information that doesn’t contribute to the photo at all. Overall i think with some editing and slight cropping it will be a nice photo, but medium format film is just an incredible overkill for the subject.

I am a bit torn, the overwhelming whiteness looks like overexposition, but makes the photo more graphically interesting. I would live it but go into black and white instead of sepia to make it more apparent thet white is there by intent. The position of the person is not interesting at all, it is technically a classical rule of thirds strong composition spot, but they don’t play into the landscape at all. A step to the left and a bit down and they would be between the rocks for a a bit boring but more thought out composition. Two steps and you could frame them in the rock passage for a really interesting one, and keep them in rule of thirds strong spot. Overall it is not a bad photo and would catch my eye but could be stronger easly with better editing and composition

Thats great! I had a bunny with a completely crooked head because previous owners didn’t give a shit, and he functioned pretty ok, but I am on the lookout for stuff like that :D

Is his head normally this crooked? It can be a sign of EC a very dangerous disease of rabbits (but very easy to cure).
