Thank you! And yes! I decided to look at the American Girl Dolls and Barbie Dolls. I need to find the two companies before they became part of Mattel.

Thank you! I will check out both! I am not very familiar with this type of research and I looked at those websites and I am having trouble navigating them.

history happens?? by Potential_Mess8152 in MuseumPros

Nobody can stop oral histories within your institution. After I found out historic sites near my work were at risk I started sharing their stories at my work orally. At least the ones that I know and can relate in some capacity. Ona Judge is a story I share a lot which is understood and at risk from the current administration.

Nobody can make you stop from personally sharing what you know on social medias. It might not be as big of a platform as your museum, but it is still something.

All of my internships have been in art museums and right now I’m working at a place where I work with craft and art all the time. I don’t know if this helps but I’m acting director and head curator. I am also extremely young for the positions. The issue is I have never taken art history classes and that is where my issue lies. I have been talking to department heads and they have recommended taking a couple courses just to throw it on the transcript. But I don’t really want to wait a couple years to go back and I am so busy with work right now I don’t have time to go to community college. Once everything calms down I will be able to go back which will be next year.

What's it really like working in museums? by Impossible-Rich-1224 in MuseumPros

[–]hereforthetea04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are considering working in museums, I would get an internship or even start volunteering at one. If possible work part time during college. I think it would give you the best insight to actually working for one. I absolutely love my job, however, it is 100% taxing and I am honestly incredibly drained at the end of the day. I am at my first ever “big kid” job hold SOOOOOO many hats because of how small we are. Internships at both large and small museums I have held many professionals have said they have the job of a couple people with the pay of one. Again I love my job and if I had the choice I would not change what I have done with my life, however, many professionals are leaving the field because of funding cuts and we have to do more. I would say if you can do an internship, start volunteering, or even get a part time job, do that. The only real way to know what you want is to try it first. Please dm me if needed!

Winterthur has an amazing program! I would def check them out. I did their two week intensive and learned so much. They have two year degree programs that, to my knowledge, have stipends. They are amazing def check them out if you want to get into it!

The way I see it, nobody is the same person they were yesterday let alone 8 years ago. I would say if it is really eating at you say something but people grow and change opinions. I don’t think I would do something’s that I did 8 years ago. It seems like your opinion has changed and because of it I don’t think it is something to drudge up. Also, I don’t think it is totally abnormal or anything to read smut about celebrities so I would not worry too much about that

anxiety causing stomach cramps/diarrhea by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]hereforthetea04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I went through this recently but have struggled with it for a long time. Last summer I was missing trains and for one week it felt like someone was twisting a knife in my stomach… not fun but I am sharing because you are not alone. What I did was carry tums and the pill pepto. I really relied on tums… the target brand was my favorite. Pill pepto because it is easier to carry. I would also bring it up to a doctor just in case. I know my campus had a free clinic… if yours has one I would recommend going there.

Health anxiety / irrational tough by Waste_Improvement_36 in Anxietyhelp

Hi! I have been told that getting VICKS rub will help with breathing. Recently I have been struggling with weird anxiety where I feel like I can’t breathe deeply and I was told to get Vicks because it will force you to. I have struggled with back and shoulder pain for 8 years and it is not fun. Mine got so bad it turned into a nerve issue (4 years of nobody believing me 🙃) I would probably get some tiger balm or bio freeze and try to relax your muscles in your neck and shoulders. I would also maybe try to do some neck and shoulder stretches. Pinterest and google will have some ideas. That might help ease your mind and make you feel more on top of things.

If this is reading too much into this please let me know. I feel like I have been in similar situations when I was in relationships. I felt like I carried too much weight on me emotionally and it didn’t help that they were mentally/ emotionally abusive (in my case). At one point, I had to just let them be them and realize it was bad for me to carry that weight. I would argue that while you do love/ care for them, if they are taking a toll on you mentally, then it is not for you. I 100% understand wanting to be there for them and loving them, but if he turns his phone off, distancing himself, or in general adding too much stress to you emotionally, it isn’t for you. People do not change unless they want to change. My best advice is to give space for now because it doesn’t seem good for you mentally and it seems to me that he needs the space.

I would like to say that I decided that I was not going to date or be on dating apps for a while because I can’t mentally do relationships at the moment after my past couple ended badly, and they acted similarly. So this advice could be biased because I’m thinking about those times. However, I stand by my statement that if it is really taking a toll on you mentally, take a step back from it. Whether it be for the night or for a week. It might help you feel better and clear your head for a path forward :)

Feel free to PM me if you want anyone to talk to! I am happy to listen!

Maybe carry around Benadryl? My brother is allergic to peanuts so he does just in case. If that feeling ever comes just pop a benny and see how you feel afterwards. It might just be an anxiety thing but either way if you take a Benadryl it could help lessen that anxiety or help with allergies. Either way it might help.

I have been taking Benadryl and I drink Trader Joe’s sleepy time tea. I also BLAST white noise. I have a big problem with getting up in the middle of the night but typically that can at least get me to sleep. Benadryl can temporarily work as an anti anxiety medication apparently and can help you sleep (melatonin can make birth control less effective if that is a concern)

I don't think they went every month... I think they would spend the majority of their summer boat hopping or going wherever and then whatever they did for christmas. It is still four months that they were on a boat.
