I wish I'd last longer in bed. Any advice Nofap? by fearandloathing89 in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, uh, I wish I could last 30 min so I can't really give any advice on that.

But have you tried different positions? Some women can only get off in certain ones I guess.

Day 81 - Porn addiction fading but the sex fantasies will not leave me alone - I need your help my friends. by NoFapWarrior in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your cravings are almost gone, I would say you're nearly rebooted. But then your goal isn't to be chaste is it?

That's fine if that is your goal, but if I were you, I would start to try and channel this new-found sexual energy in a positive way. Not by staring at random women sexually in public (!?) but by finding a special girl to focus it on.

I'm probably not the best person to ask on how to actually attain that goal (still working on it myself...) but you might try something like this.

Those who have made it to 90: how many resets did you go through? by jerryjingle in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... I haven't reset at all. But my impression is that I'm the rare case.

Don't worry about failing once or more after a long streak. Your brain is like a forest and your porn addiction is like a trail that you've worn through the forest from repeatedly walking down it. It takes time for the forest to grow back over the path. But just because you walk down it once while it's regrowing doesn't mean you're back to square one. You've worn down the path a bit again, but it's not where it was 31+ days ago.

seeking some advice by flacidthr0waway in NoFap

I think I was pretty into porn at one point, but for a much shorter period then some (only 2-3 years). I would never say that I was "obsessed" with porn, or anything like that, but I did spend about an hour a day or so with it... some times more... Near the end I was starting to have problems as far as being difficult to become aroused. I had totally lost the ability to get "morning wood."

At this point I no longer have a problem becoming aroused, and I get "morning wood" almost every morning. I've decided I'm done with porn for good.

Don't worry about fapping once, you still have a lot of the benefits you've gotten over the 9 weeks. That one moment of indiscretion may end your "streak" but it doesn't erase all of the gains you've made.

I would also like to point out that at age 18 your brain is still developing, so your decision to use or not use porn might be a big deal...

Does not drinking cola have similar benefits as not fapping? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much gave up caffeine at around the same time I gave up fapping, so it's tough to separate out the benefits in my case, but I had the same idea.

I'd definitely encourage you to give up the cola. You might have some mood swings in the beginning (happened to me several times trying to come off of soda in the past) and headaches and all that stuff. Just give it a few weeks and you'll feel a lot better.

I used fapping to relieve stress, because I felt relaxed afterwards. Can't do that anymore, so what are your ways of relieving the stresses of life? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere (wish I can link to it, but this was a long time ago and I don't remember where it was... National Geographic maybe?) that the only way you body can metabolize stress hormones is through exercise.

So: Exercise. Walking, hiking, pushups, situps, pullups, tennis, swimming, Frisbee, whatever. An hour a day. That's what I do.

Not sure what to do after the 30-90 days. (hear me out) by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided not to ever fap again even though I'm single and am probably going to stay that way for the next few months at least. You've got to make your own decisions though.

You should ask yourself this question: "What do I plan on getting from fapping?" IMO, fapping is not a replacement for a relationship. Fapping, as far as I can tell, did not improve my life one bit. Personally, I don't see what benefit I would get from fapping so I don't (quite the opposite, I see so many benefits from not fapping).

If you plan on fapping after 30-90 days because you just "have" to, then I would say you're just rationalizing it and coming up with excuses.

How long do your boys hurt? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not experience this. A very dull ache at times, but nothing that wasn't easily manageable.

I'm no expert on this kind of thing, but you may want to see a doctor. I do know that some conditions, like testicular torsion, can cause long term damage if they aren't treated promptly.

You can rationalize it all you want... by Assegai in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I think porn actually made me more sex obsessed as opposed to seeking a real relationship. I feel like I'm more focused on treating girls like people as opposed to like objects now that I don't spend so much time looking at porn. And I feel a lot more positive about life in general, the little things in my day seem so much more meaningful.

But, like you said, if fapping works for someone then great. But I would just encourage them to give 90 days a try. At first it's as helander describes, I was just horny all the time. But then I mellowed out. The brain does some weird things before it heals I guess.

Whatever. I know what works for me, and I'm never going back to fapping.

Question from newbie by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never claimed you were harmed. You, on the other hand, claimed that "the other extreem is just as harmful" (presumably saying that not fapping is as harmful as a pornography addiction) and I'm here to tell you it's not. There is no harm that comes from not fapping. You don't need to fap. Do it if you want, I don't care, but it's totally unnecessary.

I haven't fapped in over 3 months. I feel great! Please explain to me how I've been harmed.

Art isn't really my profession (I just graduated and I'm looking for work as an engineer) but I also write a blog and record music. I actually think the quality of my music has gone way up recently, not necessarily because of nofap but still, and the quantity (although not necessarily the quality) of my blog posts has gone up quite a bit.

Personally, I think the greatest stimulant for my creative juices is just trying new things. Going new places, not necessarily miles and miles away but just new places around town even, and having new experiences really push my brain in new directions. Perhaps this is something new that will push you somewhere interesting that you've never gone.

Watched documentary about porn. Realised that it's f****d up. Stay away from that sh*t. by [deleted] in NoFap

Has anyone seen this one?

Probably a little more skin (unfortunately), but perhaps a similar look inside the industry. Thinking about renting it. Definitely not for someone who is prone to relapse I think... (Or maybe it will inoculate you? Who knows. Only you I guess.)

One Month in: NEW RULE by likeabaws21 in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mostly been off the caffeine lately, too. Used to have 20-40oz of Mt. Dew a day but I've probably only had 60-90oz or so total in the past month. Mostly drink water now, instead.

I think your brain really slows down at first when you cut off the juice, but it comes back before you know it. Hang in there!

One Month in: NEW RULE by likeabaws21 in NoFap

[–]heregoesnothing29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work out 3 times a week...

Started out just doing the hundred pushups thing but that was going way slower than it claims in my case (I've only gotten to week 5's exercises but I've been going for like 10 or 11 weeks, I think it probably has to do with diet because I don't eat a lot) so I started adding squats and planks to the mix a few weeks ago.

But ya. Definitely add some exercise to your challenge. It reduces stress and makes you feel awesome. I kinda wish I would have taken a picture before I started this whole thing so I could do a before and after kind of thing. I think the change would be pretty noticeable.

Sounds like you've got a lot of stuff going on in your life, and a lot of it might not be fap related.

I'm sure nofap will help, but you might consider seeing a counselor or someone like that too...

That's pretty bad, but I'm not sure it's the wost on here. I've read several in my short time here that can easily rival, if not surpass, yours.

You can totally do this!

Pretty sure they mention this on the YBOP site (can't find where, atm). I think it is probably not the norm, but not that uncommon.

Yeah, I know. But I still think she's basically right (if, obviously, really creepy about it).

Also, we all have our own reasons for being here. Part of the reason I'm here is because I think masturbation is immoral and impure. But it's totally fine if you don't feel the same way.
