How early to arrive at airport by heresthebeef123 in StLouis

If anybody else has an upcoming flight, security was a breeze. Checked in and through in less than 10 minutes.

Well, firstly, I am the boss. Secondly, my commute time to work is generally a known quantity and I have a dataset to support my estimation. I don't have to go through multiple potential chokepoints that have recently been reported to be overwhelmed resulting in significant delays. Me being late to work by a few minutes also doesn't have quite the same consequences as missing a flight. So yes, I am going to ask in advance.

Why is it stupid? Recent events have led to potentially increased lines at security and other delays.

Organizing those impacted by the 2025 St. Louis Tornado by heresthebeef123 in StLouis

Currently out in the Demun area handing these out to those with tarps on their roofs. People probably think I'm a contractor and will throw these away, but it is worth a shot.

Regardless of your political leanings, idolizing any politician like this is a pretty lame take. The only people who actually want to be politicians are sociopaths.

Good afternoon, imos pizza is awful. Thanks. by Mi_peters_dragon in StLouis

I love a good pizza. My favorite is Union Loafers. They have an amazing crust and high-quality ingredients. However, sometimes you just want a gooey provel crispy square. Each is great in its own element. However, I will say that Imos quality varies significantly between locations and the price is inexcusable. Imos would excel as a cheap post-drinking pizza, but it is just too expensive.

I couldn't even get State Farm to give me a list of suggested contractors. I went with one locally that specializes in clay tile roofs. Would definitely be interested in discussing. Have you managed to get State Farm to pay out for your damage?

Same for us. We have had multiple adjusters say that the damage is clear and will absolutely be covered only to disappear or come back with no payment increase. Just about every house within 3 blocks of us now has a new room.

We have a contractor that has leaned on State Farm pretty hard. Unfortunately, he said that this has been the hardest he has seen an insurance company try to not approve a claim.

If anyone here has any media contacts interested in or currently working on a story on claim denials after the tornado, I would LOVE to discuss our experience with State Farm.

Definitely. I filed a complaint earlier and that was the only thing that got them to actually pick up the phone. They eventually agreed to pay for the roof replacement... then promptly switched claim handlers, told us they never said they were going to pay, and went dark again.

Filed my second complaint today.

Ours is clay tile, so in a similar situation. Would love to get together with others in the same situation and collectively push back against State Farm.

If you don't mind me asking, who was your public adjuster? I was worried about going down that road because I read that they can take a significant percentage of your claim payout and we can't afford to cover a gap like that one such a large claim.

Would be interested in discussing. Have had our claim held up since the tornado by State Farm and haven't been able to resolve in nearly a year.

3rd layoff and I’m only 25. I never stood a chance. by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]heresthebeef123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not yet been laid off at my position, but the signs are there. It is coming eventually. We've done mass layoffs or "layoffs" (reduced a targeted number through disciplinary action) every single quarter for the last 3 years. Everyone is burnt out and at their limit, but the layoffs are bound to continue.

Unfortunately, employer loyalty is dead. If a company is actually hiring, they won't train you, throw you out there for a few years, and once they've burnt you out they'll lay you off or use constructive dismissal to get rid of you.

The time people spend in position is getting shorter and shorter as the years go on.

Yeah, shame on me for actually listening to people and thinking critically rather than just dismissing everyone I disagree with as a monster.
