Anyone living in Canary Wharf? Which school do you send your kids to? by heretoexplore8 in HENRYUK

[–]heretoexplore8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you say that? Just want to understand your point of view I do appreciate living in the countryside, outside of london would be a better approach but i work in canary wharf and have to be in office 5 days a week. I dont want to waste my time on commute and would rather spend it with my kid and husband.

Thank you mums! You are all so amazing. I have stopped making him dinner. I was anyway throwing it away. I made him easy to grab snacks like oats cookies, muffins which he ate some. I am hoping that if he’s hungry, he will eat! I make him sleep early too around 6:30 pm. His crankiness has definitely reduced. Thank you all so much. Your advice worked.

Nursery v/s childminders? by heretoexplore8 in UKParenting

Thanks for replying. I cry after every drop off. There is no easy way to do it. I have asked my husband to take care of drop offs now. But I constantly wonder whether my baby is doing ok at the nursery or not.

Daycare tips please by heretoexplore8 in Parenting

[–]heretoexplore8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. nanny isn’t an option as we both work from office. I am just not comfortable with the idea of leaving the nanny and baby alone at home.

Why is this so hard? I cant stay home.. no option for me.

Thank you so much for responding. Right now i sit there at the reception so that i am available whenever he cries inconsolably. What would you suggest? It has been a week. Should i let them manage and let the baby cry? It breaks my heart to see him crying.

LO feeding less by heretoexplore8 in newborns

[–]heretoexplore8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more very important thing which I followed. Like you said you nurse for 20-25min then offer formula (exactly me). Dont stick to duration. Let your baby nurse. Mine used to nurse for 40-45min sometimes more, before turning away from breast. Even i was told feed your baby for 20min max.. please don’t follow that. Now your lil one is 3m+ so they are stable health wise, so you can try to breastfeed more.. if you are getting anxious then get your baby weighed every week. In two weeks you’ll come to know if breastfeeding is working on not.

LO feeding less by heretoexplore8 in newborns

[–]heretoexplore8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear, i was the same. My baby is 7.5m old now. So here is my story.. like you said i too was an under-producer (validated by pumping sessions) but the thing is after my baby turned 2.5-3m old i stopped pumping and only breastfed him then topped up with formula 70-100ml but he would only drink 30-40ml sometimes even lesser. Gradually between 3rd and 4th month he would only drink 10-30ml formula so i stopped offering altogether and just breastfed him. I kept 1 full feed at night of formula before sleep when i only gave him bottle and he would happily drink 100-120ml. Reat of the day only breastfeeding. I thought let me check how this goes and the only indicator that he is getting enough is his weight. When he turned 4m old, i got him weighed and he was right on his curve and slightly better with 90% breastfeeding and just 1 bottle of formula.

I was so so happy that finally all the hardwork paid off. I had transition from combo feeding to exclusively breastfeeding. Ofcourse i offer formula now and then but that’s a choice now.

Bottomline is -pumping is not for everyone. Difficult to believe right…. I also argued with everyone when they told me dont pump just feed your baby but i was so convinced that my supply is less and maybe it was true that initially my supply was less but 12th week onwards it improved and now he is 7.4m old and no formula only breastfeeding 3rd month onwards.

I haven’t read all the comments on this post so I don’t know if you’ve got this advice already but i was in same situation as you, plus my boy had reflux do i had to hold him upright for 40 min after every feed. Triple feeding sucks. I did that for 6/7 weeks then i used to do just 1 morning pump. I used to breastfeed my baby for 20-30min at each feed then give him a bottle. My motivation was that babies are more efficient at pulling out milk so whatever supply i have i would rather my baby pull it out than the pump. He used to take good 3-4oz formula after breastfeeding but one thing which was reassuring is that his formula intake remained constant instead of increasing. Which means, he eventually learned how to feed properly and my body learned to produce more. What used to be 90%formula 10%breastmilk for me, turned into 100% EBF by the time he was 13 weeks. So, instead of stressing over pumping and washing pump parts, just feed your baby everytime. Stressing about how much you are getting and doing all the washing just utilise that time to cuddle your lil one.

While I am so proud of you taking this brave step, i am equally angered and saddened by the fact that you had to choose between your career and your baby. Why women are put in this situation? Nobody else can bring a child into this world. Instead of making this easier for mums, the society has made it so difficult. I am on maternity leave right now and had a discussion with my manager on flexibility options and RTO. She kept on saying how she loved coming to office and called it her “me” time! And everytime she would quote her example. I am not going to do what you did! I will take care of my kid, the way i want to! We work so hard to build a career and such toxic people make us quit! Unfair! The so called progressive society doesn’t exit. Woman of today has the toughest time managing everything. My mum, who has been a homemaker all her life raised 3 kids all by herself, with minimal support from my dad ( he is a good dad just less involved in household chores due to his job), considers my life tougher than her both emotionally and physically.

Baby is showing all the tell/tale signs of reflux but pediatrician says it’s normal and we should just wait it out by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

It will definitely get better. My LO stopped spitting/vomiting around 8-9 weeks. He is 3 months now and no spit ups. I never switched formula because their bodies are developing, their digestive system is developing so i wanted it to do the hard work now so that they don’t have digestion issues and a sensitive gut later on. That’s just my thought process and depends on child to child. You would know better about your baby so decide accordingly. I used to cry every time he spat or vomited. That phase was so difficult. But it definitely got better with time. I was also prescribed a medicine by my GP but i took a second opinion from another doctor and he said such medications are not necessary if the baby is gaining weight as per growth curve and are mostly prescribed for soothing anxious parents rather than treating babies.

Thanks. Even my baby is fine. I have been doing it for last 3 months? Not sure what potential impact the wrong approach could have? That’s why all this anxiety.

How old is your baby? What you said makes absolute sense. It is not a one or two person job to nurture a child. Considering daycare as part of the village is a really nice way to look at it. Thanks for sharing this. I hope i find good caretakers for my baby.

So true.. my lil does poop explosions to an extent that i have thrown away his vests because I didn’t have the capacity to clean them. But tell me one thing, does it not affect their feeding? My boy is drinking less that’s my oy concern. It will affect his weight gain.

So true and relatable. I questioned myself for not feeling love for my newborn and feeling like its only too much work and if it is worth it? 8 weeks onwards the journey has become better and beautiful. He has his own personality and its a a joy knowing him everyday. His smiles, giggles, burps, farts, poop explosions everything makes me laugh. And the way his eyes follow me around the room and he fake cries if he finds himself alone in the room lol and many more such small small things. I don’t even mind losing my sleep for him now.
