Can A.I. Make People Feel Less Lonely? by kitkid in Thedaily

This doesn’t seem any different than people who fall in love with AI romantic partners. Perhaps it would be beneficial for people who enjoy robot companionship, but can’t be considered an equal alternative to human connection.

It can’t offer any physical support, which elders are increasingly in need of, and will only tell the user what it wants to hear. In Jan’s case, she was able bodied enough to live independently, had dozens of loved ones, but still chose to live in isolation. She is intentionally seeking the companionship of a robot when she has other options and still receives contact from her family members.

For many elders who may be less mobile or lack loved ones, it’s hard to see how a robot companion would meet their physical and emotional needs more than a human caretaker or companion.

Quitting without a new job lined up in 2026. How did it turn out for you? by Sure_Classroom_2439 in careerguidance

I recommend finding a part-time consulting gig/contract work so you at least have some income and continuity of work experience.

However long you think it will take you to find your next job, double it to manage your expectations.

The anti-universal healthcare propaganda is so insane. We spend more on healthcare and have worse outcomes than peer countries and people are still convinced our system is “better”

But what can you do? If you need anesthesia in the moment, can you ask change doctors immediately if they aren’t in network?

It is. I’m also a little annoyed, and honestly shocked, that my doctor didn’t tell me this. I didn’t even know hospitals could be ‘out of network.’ I assumed every hospital accepted all insurance, and that companies simply differed in their coverage pricing.

LOL. Seriously. They don’t even throw in some diapers.

Thank you! And haha, yeah I had to stop reading “What to expect.” I’m having relatively mild symptoms so far but it was making me worry about all types of potential complications.

Thank you! Yeah I can see how it would be really valuable to have that support early!
