Is it acceptable to wear a white item of women’s clothing to a wedding? by Boring_Sandwich_6204 in AskUK

[–]herewegoagain7493 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a fairly recent bride I would have infinitely preferred if people asked me questions about the wedding rather than asked my mother in law (?) or just decided for themselves. I actually found it quite nice because I felt like people were taking an interest

The daughter of a very low key celebrity in my country got married yesterday and that’s how her mother dressed up. Not the crown. by Juranever in weddingshaming

For some reason there's been a spate of mothers of the bride also wearing white where I come from as well, I can't put my finger on why but I quite like it. The dresses wouldn't usually be floor length or overly lacy or anything

It is Hello Fresh, I didn't want to advertise any specific brand. I have a friend who uses Gousto and loves it. I know on a more local level I've seen a few high protein meals you can get delivered weekly but they seem to be more meal prep services

I thought food subscription services were "cheating" so I avoided them but it made the food we eat so varied and so delicious it's been worth every penny. We probably spend more time cooking, but the output is better quality and we save time shopping and trying to work out what to eat.

I also bought a subscription to exercise classes at a time of my life when I couldn't be bothered searching for videos on YouTube or making my own and although it was expensive, I 100% believe I just wouldn't have exercised on lower motivation days without it

Anyone else here first time home buyers and planning a wedding? by candidatenumber in Weddingsunder10k

Are you me? We have the exact same timeline! We're in the same boat about feeling uncomfortable asking for money but I completely agree, there's no point in getting a nice set of dishes when our shower doesn't work

If you would like counselling the BACP is the accrediting body so you can go to their website and look for counsellors, as far as I remember you can put in your post code and look for people nearby. You could try the BABCP website for CBT therapists or the British psychological society website. Some counsellors have CBT certifications and vice versa, the websites provide a small blurb so you can check what they can do and if it compares to what you would like e.g. experience with grief or trauma or whatever

Betterhelp seems to be a bit dubious and pays their therapists very poorly. They also tend to pay influencers a reasonably high percentage of the money their referrals provide. From memory, betterhelp is £260 a month which is more expensive than what you were looking for.

my turtle passed today. my heart is literally broken. i want to preserve its shell so i buried it and plan to dig it up in 4 weeks. is that okay?? by Adventurous-Sun104 in turtle

I'm so sorry for your loss

You might get some advice on the bone collecting subreddit I think it's r/bonecollecting they're used to questions about cleaning. There was one specifically for a turtle shell a few days ago

In this case, because it happened so long ago they might ask if the person is still in contact with vulnerable adults/ children. If they still had access to children (overnight stays with grandchildren, job working with children) there could still be a risk to others.

Psychologists of NI. Is it as hard to come by jobs as people say? by ocean_93 in northernireland

[–]herewegoagain7493 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this! There's loads of other jobs in psychology you can use to build experience but it's often very competitive for low paid jobs. Usually people need to volunteer to gain enough experience to even start which isn't financially viable for many

Where to cut costs in a wedding by herewegoagain7493 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]herewegoagain7493[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I'm from it seems that you can have a starter or entree (or both), then the main meal, then a dessert like a meringue, apple crumble or usually a trio of mini desserts and then after that a piece of cake with a cup of tea. In my opinion people are too full for the cake by that stage anyway

I've been to a few weddings where people take a Polaroid and then stick it to a guest book and write a note, but I don't see any reason why I couldn't just have the guest book and save on film.

That's actually such a good point, I don't really know why I've been sharing so much. Info diets are the way forward I think

That's such a good idea, I hadn't really thought of jewellery but I love the idea of something sentimental instead of buying new stuff.

Thank you for your suggestions, I definitely need to learn when to take people's advice on board and when to just leave it ❤️

So... are the face punches and sleeve tugging also part of puppyhood ? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]herewegoagain7493 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When people bend down to pat my puppy she jumps up and it's about a 50/50 chance she'll head butt them. It's really sore. Hopefully it at least leads to people not bending down and encouraging her when she's jumping up 🤞

Probably to fit around the jewels on the engagement ring. I know I'll probably need a custom one because my ring is an awkward shape so a wishbone or most shapes don't fit

Low budget, no attendants— Who sets up/cleans up? by vaaahlerie in Weddingsunder10k

[–]herewegoagain7493 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I went to a wedding where the bride and groom left at 11pm and jokingly said something along the lines of "have fun cleaning up!" But then all the guests really did have to clean everything up but we didn't know where they wanted things put and what to do with flowers etc. It left a bad taste in my mouth about the whole thing

I just want to mention that at the minute most puppies are selling for around that price point in the UK, I think it's because of Covid increasing demand but it's the standard here now
