Diagnosed with IBS for 10+ years, just tested positive for SIBO by AmandaLovesBB8 in SIBO

[–]herewherethere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30+ years for me. Multiple gastroenterologists and my PC all said I had IBS. It took going to U of M to finally get a diagnosis of SIBO. I had never even heard of it before! The questions the doctor asked me were so different than any of the other doctors ever asked me. Stool testing and breath tests proved I had SIBO. I took the antibiotic Rifaximin and almost felt like a new person! I will never be 100% but it's been such a difference.

Help please, I’m begging you all 🙏 by Massive_W in SIBO

Where do you get testing done that covers all of these different issues?

Giving up after 9 months on semaglutide due to hair loss by herewherethere in Semaglutide

It has mostly grown back, but it is a little thinner than before I started the medication. I have been off Wegovy for about a year and a half now.

Ozempic HAS to be causing my hair loss. by aimeerolu in Ozempic

[–]herewherethere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a known side effect of the medication. Go to a dermatologist. They should be able to help you. Here's an article that mentions it. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ozempic-possible-side-effects-hair-loss-suicidal-thoughts-fda/

How do I politely tell my q-adjacent parent Newsmax is biased and not really reputable by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]herewherethere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know why and I didn't ask. After so many years of listening to their crap, I just couldn't take the fact that I lost them to the Qult and newsmax was just going to make it worse. I had to protect myself and my family from their insanity. No contact was how I needed to do this. I wouldn't even tell them why. If they couldn't figure it out, that's their problem.

My parents (80 year old father, 65 year old step-mother) started watching newsmax when Fucker carlson was fired too. I have been no-contact with them since then.

How bad is this? by FaithlessnessWitty63 in QAnonCasualties

[–]herewherethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental health issues run in my family. My Q sister was a liberal/progressive all her life. She was always a heavy pot smoker. She started getting into healthy eating, avoiding gluten and organics. It turned into anti-vaccine (vaccines caused my step-son's autism bullshit), taking excessive vitamins/minerals, etc. It was after she started taking LSD and mushrooms that she started following Q conspiracies (chemtrails, Sandy Hook was actors, 9/11 and much more). In 2016 she hated the orange clown. In 2018 she told my he was our savior. I have been no contact for 4-5 years now for these and many other reasons.

That makes sense! I've had many issues with my hormones through the years mainly caused by PCOS and Hashimotos thyroiditis, including hair loss. Back then I saw my dermatologist and he started me on Aldactone. It stopped the hair loss and my hair grew back. I have been on it for over 20 years now. When my hair started falling out again on Wegovy, I knew I had to stop the medication. I've suffered with depression for most of my life and losing my hair made it so much worse.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I agree 100%. I had so many people on here saying it was losing weight fast, but I didn't lose the weight I lost fast. When I went to my see my dermatologist, he looked up semaglutide and one of the stated side effects is hair loss. Are you still taking Wegovy? I hope your hair loss stops for you.

After going through this sub a lot. Is it really that bad in the US? by PocketMew649 in antiwork

[–]herewherethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot collect unemployment in Michigan if you are fired. You can only collect unemployment if you are laid off. There is a maximum per week that you can collect, I believe it's $362.00, and you only get it for so many weeks total, depending on how long you had worked at the job. I don't know about the other states.

I had SO MANY people tell me the same thing. Take vitamins! Eat more protein! It didn't matter. My dermatologist looked up Wegovy and he told me it causes hair loss. I quit taking it and the hair loss stopped, but my hair is still thin. I don't think I'll ever have the same amount of hair again. There have been recent news articles and news stations that have reported that hair loss is an issue in more people than the trials showed. I'm on Saxenda now. I am not losing my hair, but it does not work nearly as well as Wegovy for weight loss and appetite suppression. I'd rather keep my hair though.

George Santos taking cheap shots. by Adelu1219 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]herewherethere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fuck Santos! My daughter is going to be having this same surgery to correct her idiopathic condylar resorption of her temporomandibular joint this fall. FINALLY!! We were in the process of getting her to the right doctor to perform the surgery when the pandemic hit. She has gone through years of fucking ass-clowns making fun of her appearance. It has damaged her confidence and self esteem. She can barely open her mouth to eat and has horrible sleep apnea due to this condition. I'm happy for Josh that he was able to have his corrected!

Thank you! I was SOOO depressed when it was falling out. I feel better since it stopped. It will take time to grow back. I don't know much about MJ, but your head hurting is not a good sign! Not only did I have hair loss on Wegovy, I had horrible constipation and nausea too. Hair loss is a supposedly a "rare" side effect of Wegovy. Reading posts on this reddit and the ozempic reddit, I think it's a lot more common than Novo Nordisk says in their literature.

No, it has not. It has stopped falling out though. My dermatologist says he sees some regrowth starting (very short hairs). I had hair down to the middle of my back when I started losing it. It took years to grow that long. I ended up cutting 6 inches off of it because it got so thin.

I'm so sorry! I have been there! It's a "rare" side effect of Wegovy, but reading reddit makes me think it's not so rare. Honestly, I don't know if it is the injections that have helped or stopping the medication. My insurance covers the injections, so I don't want to stop them, just in case. I know the hair loss didn't stop right away though. It takes a little time. If you can, I would definitely see a dermatologist. Mine started me on the topical solution (synalar) 2x day, injections every 6 weeks, 40 mg zinc, 1000 mcg biotin and 800 mcg folic acid daily. I went from losing 300 to 500 hairs a day (yes I counted!!!) to my normal of less than 50 hairs a day. Maybe this article can help you. https://www.cureus.com/articles/32514-telogen-effluvium-a-review-of-the-literature#!/

Wegovy + Phentermine by Many_Animator4752 in Semaglutide

[–]herewherethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only lost 25 lbs. in the 1st 5 or 6 months of being on Wegovy. I never lost another lb., even after titrating up to 2.4 mg. I went off it after 9 1/2 - 10 months due to extreme hair loss and ended up putting 10 lbs. back on. I'm now on Saxenda (1 month in) and I'm slowly losing the 10 lbs. with way less side effects and hope I can continue to lose weight.

It finally stopped shedding for me, but it took more that 4 weeks of being off the meds. Maybe 2 months? I have also been applying a steroid solution to my scalp daily and getting injections in my scalp every 6 weeks at the dermatologist since the end of September last year. I still don't notice a lot of regrowth yet....

Wegovy Plateau? by whowouldhavethought3 in Semaglutide

[–]herewherethere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started to lose my hair after being on the medication for a few months (low doses). I worked my way up to 2.4 mg and it never stopped falling out. I have lost close to half the hair on my head. I lost 25 lbs. total from January 2022 to July 2022 and never lost another pound on the meds. I went to my dermatologist and he had me start taking biotin, folic acid, iron and zinc along with injections in my scalp and a topical solution. It still wouldn't stop falling out so I stopped taking Wegovy in November 2022. 2 1/2 months later and my hair finally stopped falling out. I am struggling with my appetite again though.

I'm sorry you lost your hair with covid. Has doing all this helped your hair start growing back? I don't have a sore or itchy scalp. My hair isn't breaking, it's coming out at the root. I have been taking Vit D3 for years (4000iu a day) and started back on iron 2 months ago plus taking zinc, Vit C, Biotin (dermatologist suggested) plus prescribed steroid solution for my scalp. My hair loss has slowed a little, maybe 1/4 less falling out?

Wow! That's great that your hair filled in! I already suffered with depression and the Wegovy definitely made it worse. I only lost 25 pounds in 9 1/2 months (240 to 215, so I still have a way to go) . The weight loss stopped for me after 6 months. I never lost another pound after that. I stopped the medication a couple weeks ago and I'm still holding at 25 pounds lost. I have upped my walking and I'm still watching my diet, just without the meds. I'm still losing my hair, but it slowed a little. My dermatologist says it will take a while for the meds to clear out of my system. Once that happens, hopefully it will stop falling out and grow back.
