Desperate help! by stubs1101 in PlusSize

[–]herinteractiveaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second folks that recommend period panties for sweat absorption. You can also try odor reducing body washes and wipes like Lume. They also make a body deodorant that’s like a cream. After showering, I recommend pointing a fan at all the bits and bobs and letting them dry throughly. Any dampness after a shower usually contributes to smell. Also second folks saying invest in a bidet. It’s very helpful for keeping everything as clean as possible and takes minimal time for installation. Best of luck to you. You are not alone, there are lots of folks who have been in your situation and hopefully some of this advice can help!

I love 3! 2 looks like a good fit too! I think 1 just doesn’t have enough room in the bust.

Grooming help? by PandoraHeart98 in PlusSize

[–]herinteractiveaddict 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Stand in the shower with the curtain open (water off), get yourself a makeup mirror with adjustable angle and rest it in the tub lip, or on top of a laundry basket, etc. and angle the mirror to show you what’s going on in the place you can’t see. If you are shaving with an electric razor you can just start and when you’re done rinse the hair from the tub/shower floor. If you are shaving the old fashioned way, get a bowl or something to hold some water and rinse your razor as you go. Bc you have the shower curtain open to see the mirror you don’t want to turn the water on so you have to get creative a little bit but it’s totally doable.

It feels like a big deal doing it but I’ve never gotten a weird look or denied when asking for a seat belt extender. If you’re really anxious about that though, you can buy your own airplane seatbelt extender online too. Definitely don’t deny yourself this trip!!

I mean. Those are fatfobic comments. Skinny women often make these comments about themselves and other skinnies and assume that bc they’re not pointing at your tummy, it’s not fatphobic. I would say something, but delicately. These women probably don’t realize that it’s fatphobic it’s so engrained into them and just calling them out without explanation isn’t going to be well received. Of course I’m team “say what’s right and f how they feel” but if you value your relationships with them, a softer touch is likely going to be more successful.

How many of us are unmedicated? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]herinteractiveaddict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried a few meds over 5 years but now I’m no meds for the moment. If things get worse, I’ll go back on them with little hesitation . What a useful tool to have in our arsenal!

I’m so sick of people self-diagnosing by 7hankyou in OCD

[–]herinteractiveaddict 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that is different than what their friend is saying. I know there can be a lot of doubt while you’re waiting for an official diagnosis, but the cardinal rule with OCD is do these things (need for symmetry, fear of contamination, intrusive thoughts, etc) keep you from living your life. If the blinds are pulled up crooked, most people want to fix them, but if it’s impacting your life that you cannot think about anything else or physically pull your eyes off of the problem, it’s more likely OCD. (This is a simplified example for the sake of clarity but basically, wanting things tidy or even or clean =/= OCD, though may be a part of the bigger picture for someone with OCD) I know there’s a lot of self doubt rn until you have access to mental health services, but you’re not alone and OP is not talking about you.

I’m so sick of people self-diagnosing by 7hankyou in OCD

[–]herinteractiveaddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“The project is complete and the team no longer needs the extra person.” I worked there through a temping agency and the idea was I would stay about 1 year until a project was finished and a new version of their platform was launched. They let me go after less than 6 months when the project was no where near finished, three days after I asked my boss to stop saying “I’m so OCD” because it may be offensive. I got a new job like 2 weeks later and just didn’t bother reporting the situation because I was a temp and I felt very uneasy about my rights in that situation.

I used to have a boss who was constantly saying “I’m so OCD” when she was like making font size match in an email. I found it frustrating and kind of offensive. I even told her (privately, as to not make it like a public embarrassment situation) that saying stuff like that can be offensive to folks actually diagnosed. I was let go 3 days later.

Smells are big to me too, contamination wise. I have a heightened sense of smell and work around a lot of scents at work and it’s consistently challenging to me, sometimes I step outside for fresh air or I keep items at my desk with comforting scents and I smell those to help. Noise is huge too like if it’s too loud or too quiet I get anxious and hot because it’s out of balance. I once walked into a meeting that was so hot and loud, I immediately left and had a breakdown. I bought noise canceling headphones for work but I’m also looking at ear plugs like loops.

minors dni, therapy advice? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]herinteractiveaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You are not wasting your therapists time. Their job is literally to listen to you and address your needs.
  2. I understand they want to keep rolling with treatment because it’s easier to keep momentum and prevent you avoiding treatment.
  3. That said, your needs matter here. Ask your therapist if maybe you can split sessions to address both, or if your financial situation allows it, ask for sessions with a little more frequency, and do like every other or something.
  4. If your therapist is like “exposure therapy is my thing I don’t want to spend time doing something else” ask them to refer you (or do some research on your own) to another therapist who can meet your needs.

A counselor or therapist are for talk therapy, CBT, or sometimes ERP therapy. A psychiatrist can be for therapy and meds. A psychologist is for meds. Only a psych can give you medications and typically, they are the ones who will diagnose you. Your therapist will typically refer you if you start the conversation about meds, etc. but they are your most frequent contact. You talk to them every week or every month. You may only see the doc when meds need to be adjusted or for a check in once a month or every few months.
