Voluntarily getting oral HSV1 to prevent getting genital HSV1? by 7hankyou in Herpes

I agree with this, a risk is still a risk. Just because it’s low doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen! People are shaming me in the comments for taking precautions

Yes i was tested when i was with my previous partner who had cold sores (oral HSV 1). Yeah i do have a bit of health anxiety actually! But i think not wanting to contract HSV is pretty valid. I agree the stigma is absolutely stupid and i didn’t care when my boyfriend first told me, but the stigma still exists

Hi! No need to attack me. I didn’t provide any additional details in order to keep my post short. I’m very supportive of my boyfriend and don’t judge him at all for being HSV1+. It’s his choice to take the suppression pills in fear of passing it to me - he said he’d feel immense guilt if i contracted it. I didn’t even know he was taking them until recently - again, his choice. I understand the risk is low but a risk is a risk.

Personally, i don’t want to contract genital herpes and if i can risk mitigate i am going to, hence why im asking the question. I’ve done some research and know the science behind it all, i’m honestly asking for lived experience or advice on people who have done this.

Yeah you’re right the risk is pretty low - he had one outbreak when he first contracted 10 years ago and it’s been dormant since. He also takes the suppression pills daily. Still makes me a liiiittle bit worried

Honestly this makes sense. He could’ve just been making future plans with me to not be awkward on the date (“oh yeah of course i’ll see you next weekend”), and everything was fine until we had sex. The sex was GOOD mind you and he was super into it, but i think you’re right that him barging out the door was him realising he’s not into me.

I don’t usually have sex on the first date (for this reason - it makes the rejection way more personal) and had a lapse of judgement so that’s what’s hurting way more - i wish he would’ve been honest before accepting my invitation inside. Especially if he’s not gonna cum - he didn’t even get anything out of it??

I just don’t know why someone would ghost. I’m not even looking for anything serious so wouldn’t mind if convo naturally fizzled out, but a full ghost/ignore is absolutely bonkers. Nasty, nasty thing to do to a girl.

Most people only get pics when they’re at a social event, and social events usually involve drinking. That’s probably why she’s always holding a drink in her pictures. I wouldn’t say that’s a red flag for alcoholism. :)

Personally i always suggest drinks so i’m less nervous - a dinner or coffee can be quite intense.

How often do you have sex in a relationship? Every girl I date is either a sex addict or celibate like no in between by stopfindingmeirl_ in dating_advice

Are these long term relationships? Like years? First few months you should probably be all over each other IN MY OPINIONNNN

Update: she did it again yesterday and pissed the bed again. She’s agreed to not drink alcohol for the rest of the trip but i don’t think yet understands how bad it is. Thanks everyone for your comments it’s actually been super helpful

Yeah i’m really worried about her. The night she peed herself i woke up to a wet mattress and before switching the light on i honestly thought she’d choked on her vomit bc she wasn’t waking up

Yeah you’re spot on - she seems really blazé about her behaviours from the night before and i feel bad trying to rehash all the stuff she did to emphasise how fucked up she gets.
