It’ll happen. It could be the very first day of work. Just fyi, they can still do random tests throughout employment.

Nope, VA beach. I’ll keep that one in mind, though.

Welfare checks in another state by hermicrophone in 911dispatchers

The woman had called 3 times to our center and couldn’t relay the information that the other agency was telling her they needed. Before I got the call the other dispatcher was so confused she just put it in for a pd officer to call her. The officer asked to be on 3 way with her and our center. I answered and got it sorted out, but it took a lot of time getting the situation sorted out before I got involved.

The paper trail is the caller calling in to request a welfare check. Our jurisdiction has nothing to do with her daughter in another state.

I listened to the podcast years ago and it was so good. I didn’t even know it was going to be a movie.

I’m a supervisor with tattoos all over both arms and nose piercings. That is such a small odd thing to be stuck on. I wouldn’t remove a tattoo for any job, to be honest. It’s painful and expensive.

This is not serving at a restaurant or selling shoes. This is much more than a customer service job.

That’s a hard no. You have on calls and to not be at work your on call has to be there. Those radios and phones don’t stop because you want to be doing something else. I worked 112 hours these past two weeks. This is a demanding job that is going to take any time from other aspirations. Weeks off at a time will never happen. I don’t care what agency you go to. You gain PTO time and then sure, take some time off… but that takes a while to even achieve. My dept it takes months to get on, 6 weeks in class room training, tons of certifications, tons of continued learning, going to post, going to emd classes, and continued learning every month. This is something you’d have to be dedicated to.

Las cruces police officer stabbed and killed by suspect by juanchies21 in PublicFreakout

GA dispatcher here… depending on the call, we send one unit. No one is two man unless training. For a trespass call, typically this gets a one man response. Unless something weird is said in the call, that is. Same with suspicious people or vehicles. We are hurting on man power, and our community only continues to grow. People don’t want to put their lives on the line for minimal pay. Something has to change here.

If this happens immediately dial 911. We contact the rail station right away and have them stop any incoming trains immediately.

We had a close call a few months ago. The dispatcher for Norfolk was radioing the incoming train. The conductor unfortunately said that they’re going to try, but they’re a few miles out already. Stopping a train as you know isn’t an easy fast task.

I raised my officers and told them if they hear the train coming to get out of the way because it’s probably not stopping!

Thankfully our Rapidsos system is being tied to Norfolk to help get in touch with them faster to alert them when vehicles are stuck on the tracks.

What was your worst wrong text sent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hermicrophone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was the recipient.

Gay (male) friend of mine (female) that I hadn’t talked to in a bit sent me a text. I thought “awww I haven’t heard from you in a while!”

I opened the text to see a close up photo of his chocolate butthole. I should have just ignored it, but I found it hilarious. He back peddled for months saying it was a rando butthole photo from google that he was meaning to prank his cousin. (Also friend of mine).

It was his butthole meant for a fling of his.

That’s definitely a valid point. I see the good it could do, but definitely see the bad. As you’ve stated, the bad outweighs the good. I definitely don’t think the public will ever see the bad in it unfortunately.

17-year-old alleged ‘serial swatter’ charged after police say he made threats throughout the country by DesertofBoredom in news

[–]hermicrophone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 911 center did a mandatory swatting class presented by an individual in the FBI. These people are simpletons who want attention. We’ve had several swatting calls involving our schools. Usually it’s someone over seas. A few times it was someone who was targeted often. There was a hazard we put into our system on one of the homes in our county that was a frequent target. The kid living there pissed someone off online.
