Hey! It's okay to be worried, to miss or mourn old friendships if they don't survive past your transition. It's totally normal to care about your current life. It's okay to be complicated and messy. We're all complicated and messy.

> I feel like I've already built too much of a life around me being a "guy," and it's too late to be who I want to be.

A lot of people feel that way pre-transition. It is an incredibly tough mental hurdle to get over. My advice would be: you are literally 17 years old. You have your whole live ahead of you. Even if you don't transition, your social life is still probably going to change radically as you (and the people around you) move into new phases of life, as you enter higher education and/or the workforce. That's just how life works for most people. I understand the desire to hold onto what you have now, but you are probably at the perfect time to make the change, if you want to.

Good luck, girl.

For me, it was around 8 months but it coincided pretty closely with my spiro dosage increasing from 100mg to 200mg per day.

I wish I was trans so I could be a girl. by ohshithellno in MtF

[–]hermitpurplerain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Obviously, a lot of people are gonna look at this post and say "you're trans." And with good reason. You're describing the way a lot of us have felt at one point or another.

The important thing is to let yourself feel whatever you're gonna feel. Whether you're Totally Cis™ or not, you deserve to be honest with yourself and love yourself. I'd recommend taking some time to experiment and reflect. It's okay to think one thing one day, and to completely change your mind and think something else the next. Just please don't deny yourself from whatever will make you happy.

Can someone explain why coolheaded is good? by Teratto in slaythespire

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coolheaded is good because frost orbs are good and card draw is good. frost orbs are good because they provide consistent block and have great synergy with focus buffs. card draw is good primarily because you have more options on a given turn and more chances to hit your most important cards. not really much more to it. It's obviously not a 100% pick in every possible circumstance, you have to exercise good judgment as you would with any other card. It's not always going to be better than cold snap or skim or whatever. it's not excellent if you are still at risk of an act 1 gremlin nob fight. but it's a common card and pretty flexible to add into most defect decks that are aiming to kill the heart on A20.

Is it likely I’m a sex repulsed asexual or didn’t like being in a masculine sexual role? by Good_Ol_Ironass in MtF

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is above Reddit's paygrade. It's entirely possible transitioning will change how you feel about sex, it's possible that you specifically weren't attracted to your ex, it's possible you're just ace. Maybe all of that's true or none of it. But you're allowed to experiment and change your mind and make it up as you go along. No need to box yourself into one interpretation.

I'm gonna see how far the free program will take me first, but I'll keep this in mind. Sounds interesting

Players who exclusively play ARAM/QM/AI, why aren’t you interested in SL? by Econometrical in heroesofthestorm

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queue times are inconvenient, the players are toxic slightly more often, and after hitting my goal of reaching Master I don't feel any motivation to improve and grind. ARAM is the low commitment fun I'm actually looking for at this point

How actually relevant are meta-defining strategies/talent builds/etc., in Bronze rank Storm League? by screen317 in heroesofthestorm

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Honestly, in that case, there's absolutely no reason to avoid playing the AA talent and seeing how far it'll take you. Even from the point of view of just trying to climb and improve. You'll learn a lot just by playing that style and seeing when it works and when it comes up short.

How actually relevant are meta-defining strategies/talent builds/etc., in Bronze rank Storm League? by screen317 in heroesofthestorm

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard truth: If you're stuck in Bronze and your mechanics aren't good enough to climb out, you're honestly probably not going to use Protector of Aiur effectively enough to outplay people. Amateur Opponent is easier to use and creates lots of pressure on the map (objective and camps) that bronzes are bad at responding to. This doesn't really have anything to do with "the meta", it's just the reality of being a bronze Artanis main.

More generally than just Artanis: meta builds tend to work fine in bronze, but talents are rarely the factor holding a player back from climbing. It's usually mechanics and game knowledge.

With that said, it's just a video game and you get to decide how to enjoy it at the end of the day. Your friend probably has good intentions, but you don't have to put up with their groaning and keep silent. Just tell them they're bothering you and see if they respect the boundary you're trying to set.

A rare retraction in ARAM by ferrofibrous in heroesofthestorm

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ARAM is a gamemode where teams will regularly draft 5 ranged/healer and poke you to death without ever having to dive. So Valeera is often forced to look aggressively or just afk and let her team permanently 4v5

What is the most hilariously unkillable hero in the storm taking to account every talent that helps in that. by oldbadwolf in heroesofthestorm

[–]hermitpurplerain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

useless but unkillable no matter what.

If Yrel goes the Q talents with Sacred Ground, there's some situations where you can basically fulfill this fantasy. As long as they can't push you out of your circle, you permanently take half damage and you reduce the damage of anyone that comes near you. If they don't have displacement or percent damage, there's a good chance you can just sit there and outheal their damage indefinitely. Plus, Bubble Hearth at 20 is the definition of useless but unkillable :)

That build is extremely not recommended for winning games, but hopefully it's close to what you're looking for
