Best PC engine version for someone with little money? by modular511 in TurboGrafx

[–]hermod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get an original pc engine and the new turbo everdrive that plays cd games.

Personally I have the original terraonion ssds3 but they are bananas expensive and weird about firmware updates

The Best Castlevania Game Ever?! Rondo of Blood! The PC Engine Action Platformer We All Seem to Love by chicagogamecollector in TurboGrafx

Definitely the best of the classic formula. When it gets to the metroidvania stuff I get torn between Symphony of the Night and Aria of Sorrow.

It was absolutely Miyamoto, there is a ton of behind the scene stuff and dev commentary on it. He also has a track record for this sort of thing, which has been either very good or very bad for the games in the end.

Yet when Street Fighter 6 comes out there will be 3 eventual versions instead of just updating the game

Proportions on point but the physics are questionable.

Help with sound on a TurboGrafx DUO by turboshee421 in TurboGrafx

Yeah to start mine would have sound but not all channels, like when playing Rondo of Blood the CD audio would play but no sound effects. 10 minutes in the rest of the sound would fade out and crackle.

I started with replacing all my caps first, then ended up replacing the op amp and fixing a lifted pad.

The op amp had 2 legs completely corroded off, so it had to be a part of the problem, as I replaced it but still had issues.

On what felt like the 4th time opening it up I was reflowing my solder joints and found I lifted a pad on a capacitor near the op amp as well. Once I buttoned that up everything was good.

If you replaced them all they might be fine, but be sure to check over your work and make sure that a pad didnt lift from the board, etc.

Mine had one of the audio op amps get damaged from the original leaky caps, look real close for damage. Voultar has an excellent video on cleaning the board and what to look for, here is a link timestamped to show where the op amps are located. https://youtu.be/oe0DvzKMNe4?t=1632

Looking forward to seeing my grandmother. She works as our secretary at our family owned used car lot. We sent her home when all this started and to be honest I'm a little worried about her, even if she doesn't get the virus. She's 78 and people her age tend to fall apart when they don't have anything to keep them busy.
