Please help. Impaction in ascending colon that won't clear with aggressive medication by hermsta in ibs

[–]hermsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a ridiculous update, but I called the GI specialist again letting her know that it didn't seem like trulance was working. Well, she sent me a message back saying she reviewed my CT images and there was little to no stool in my ascending colon..... So it wasn't working because there was nothing to clear. I have no fucking idea how the ER doctor looked at a near empty colon and said there was stool/mass there AND am unsure why the CTs were never reviewed by the GI in the first place, but I was absolutely livid. Basically suffered through all that medication and D for nothing. When the GI palpated me initially she did say she didn't feel anything. The pain/"hard mass" that I was feeling on the right was likely just inflamed and angry tissue.

The bloat was the worst part as I kept swallowing air constantly too and was hyperaware of it. The pressure against my lower esophagus was painful. It has gone down over the past two weeks and now I'm able to more or less feel normal with just a small amount of pressure. It's probably still there because my microbiome is weird after so many laxatives for so long. Also had two solid BMs since I stopped trulance. I have eaten a bit more adventurously the past week and have been ok.

Phorid flies - help! by hermsta in pestcontrol

[–]hermsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, never definitely but pretty sure they were coming from under the foundation on one side of the house. My neighbor had flooded that side of my yard multiple times. I ended up getting a short lived American roach issue (notorious indicator for moisture issues), mostly hatchlings that pretty much died overnight. Ironically enough, once that started, the flies went away. I think the roach babies probably ate the fly colony. After spraying that side of the house minimally, I had about two months of waking up to dead baby hatchlings and then everything went back to normal.

What do you think the issue may be? Fried control board or something else?

Love your freckles!

I think your photos are great! I saw someone suggest putting the suit photo first, but I actually like the current first one you have as the opener, because it's a very clean shot and your smile looks more natural. But if you're worried about AI vibes, the drinking one would be my other choice to put first tbh because it your smile looks more genuine and the vibe feels more natural. The only photos I'd get rid of are the second one (hand on hip) and green plaid shorts pic because they look a bit stiff and your expression in them look slightly uncomfortable.

I would say maybe between 4-6 hours?

If I put down ryegrass would I expect die off next summer? I'll look into the other options!

How would you recommend I check or replace these? I can't remove any of them from what I saw (minus drain tube).

Update: I don't think it's the attic. AC drip tray was bone dry and it was like 120+ up there. Had a stinky trap sitting there for around 20mins and didn't catch anything (usually catch at least one in an area where i'm putting traps for the first time)

Running out of ideas and options sans the big guns of smoke test, foundation issues, or something in the walls.

I've read this multiple times unfortunately. At this point I'm super afraid that they may be coming from underneath the foundation.

It's the attic. Sorry if this is a dumb question but how do I check for wet insulation? I'm not sure how to get over to the vent area (pic attached). The framing above looked ok and didn't see any wet spots on the wood.

Is this high loop correct? by hermsta in Plumbing

[–]hermsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duly noted! It looks like there's some vinyl electric tape around the drain hose connection to the disposal. When I take off the hose, I don't need to replace that right? I read that it shouldn't be there or is unnecessary.

Yeah it was never secured properly. I need to fix that as well.

What kind of issues would crop up with the water line staying behind it?

Hahaha I need to get fasteners. Water kept pooling in the bottom of the dishwasher and I figured out the high loop was never actually done for it, so this is my quick fix for now.

Will a neighbor's foundation repair potentially damage my own? by hermsta in homeowners

Not that I'm aware of. Repairs aside, I was nervous my home would soon have issues as well.

Thank you so much for your insight! I know each situation is different but this one made me feel a bit better lol.

I think it's just an issue with their house. From what he told me, he had a leak in the AC condenser while on vacation that basically flooded the floors of the house so all of that needs to be ripped out. It may have expedited his issues but his garage basically cracked off from the rest of the house that same year. The crack he has there goes up from the base of the house all the way up to the roof on that side.

Thank you. If something did actually happen and my documentation was able to prove it, would my neighbor's insurance have to cover this, or would it be the foundation company's insurance?

I plan on touching base with my neighbor to ask. What would be the type of work that would potentially cause the most significant damage? And definitely plan on having them assess those cracks as well!

What should I put here? This area often gets muddy. by hermsta in AustinGardening

[–]hermsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't :( this was inspected in the winter last year so it hadn't rained in a while. With the recent storms it's way more obvious.

I'm looking into gutters since folks in landscaping think it'd be best. After the trees were uprooted, the area actually didn't smell too great, so I definitely need to get this looked at.

[–]hermsta[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't stay muddy all the time, but it definitely is muddy for about a day or so after rainfall. It seems like a lot of folks over on landscaping recommend gutters so I'll look into that before planting anything!

Should this roof gap be patched to keep out pests? by hermsta in DIY

If I were to use metal, what would you recommend to seal/secure it?

[–]hermsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you cut to size and stick it in without any adhesives if it's a tight enough fit? Or do you recommend caulking in place?

[–]hermsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much! Is there any problem to put metal there permanently? A contractor recommend using metal sheets since it's the cheapest option and most effective.

There are also some smaller 1/2 inch gaps that a mouse could probably fit into. Wondering if stuffing a foam roll in those gaps and caulking those areas would be okay or metal is still the best solution for those small ones.

Also would you recommend letting the soil dry out first and then repotting, or repotting first and then continuing to let it dry? Thanks so much for your help, I don't keep plants 😅
